Our 50 HP Toshiba turned off today and the red power light on the front is blinking. The TV will not do anything unless you unplug it and the light goes off. Plug it back in and the light starts blinking again.

Actually, I replaced the main power supply board and the tv is working now. I paid $140 for a new board and replaced the fuse. The tv turned on right away.

We were first told it was the power suppy source and after waiting 2 weeks to get the power supply source that did not fix it they think it is the Sein Board...$900 problem on a TV that is less than 3 years old. The Sein Board was ordered 3 weeks ago and the repair man said it is on back order and will not be in until the end of October....If there are enough Toahiba 50 plasma's with the same problem Toshiba should help out with the repair!

This answer is for sjmhan: It sounds like you have a fault on the power supply board of the tv. Please before you open up your tv find out how to take basic precautions against electrical shock and how to discharge capacitors safely. First check if there is a glass fuse inside of the set and if it has blown replace it with one of the same rating. If you replace the fuse and it blows straight away or it still does not come on then it could be quite a few things. Either a faulty resistor or diode or voltage regulator or even the mains transformer itself. One word of warning: NEVER toucch any of the pins of the transformer as this cannot be tested directly without specialist equipment. If you find that it all is too complicated for you then dont feel like you have failed just re-assemble it and find a competant technician. Good luck.

Kimlong: I think you have a faulty component on the power supply board most likely a faulty diode. If you can check this for yourself otherwise find a competant technician. Hope this helps.

Kimlong my friend that would mean Toshiba ADMITTING liability for a known fault on that particular model and somehow I think they will keep very quiet on that one :-) Good luck but in defence of the technician he can only go on what faults present themselves and the problem is so many faults mimic other faults that sometimes it takes a lifetime to get a tv up and running. Good luck with it.

Power led blinks but no picture or sound

Had the same problem myself. Took some doing but I managed to find a service bulletin that I downloaded. The problem is with the siene module and all you need to do is unplug connector JP63A from the main board and your TV will work again.
Take the back off the TV (there are a lot of screws) and look on the left hand side of the main circuit board that is mounted in the center of the TV. You will see a small white connector that is labelled JP63A, simply unplug it. Plug the TV back in and let it reboot. That's it, should be able to watch immediately.
