this location has failed to start because baseserv was not found. re-installing the application may fix this problem.......
another problem is i dont have the recovery disk and other utility disk that came up with the product...
i have an xp pro installer that is bootable.. but my laptop seems to bypass the cd rom.
it goes directly to the page where in i am ask if loading to safe mode, last known good config, etc... then what ever i choose, im directed to the windows xp loading page then automatically shuts down and on again... on nd off nd on nd off..... with the same process...
i even dis-assembled my 2450 laptop and reseat all sockets, cards, lcd "everything".....
i already changed the boot sequence... cd, fdd,lan, hdd......
dont have floppy drive..
which is defective??? my cd rom? hdd?
what im trying to do is to reinstall os using xp pro...
I believe that definitely your hard drive is bad and needs to be replaced. Also going by what you are saying here, your cd rom could be bad. If it is still working though, then most likely the reason that your computer isn't finding it or cannot boot from it, is because, due to your hard drive being bad, your computer cannot access the drivers to your cd, thus making it undetectable. DVD-RW does not work and is not recognized. hl-dt-st dvdram gsa-t20n ata device driver shows up in device manager but the device status lists the following error: Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19). I ran a registry scan with CCleaner and restarted but that did not work.
