Question about Kenwood KNA-DV3100 Car Video Player

1 Answer

Some buttons not available

The manual says that under route options, there are five buttons; Search conditn; Detour; Route Pref: Dest. & Way Pt; Display Route; and Route Preview.
On our unit, only the Dest & Way Pt, and Route Pref are active, the others are not lit up.
Also, on the map display, the manual shows six buttons for things like single or dual map screen, turn arrows, etc., but we only have the single and dual map options lit up and active.
So, what's up with that? Thanks

Yep - I kind of discovered this myself yesterday after putting in a destination - most of the buttons came alive.

How long have you owned the unit and how long has it been doing this? Once I have more info I can assist you further.
Thanks,
Lee

They will not all be lit up all the time. You have to be using it with a destination on it. Have you actually used the unit? Please don't reject my help til I have more information, but if you have a moment to accept and rate my solution if it is helpful I would greatly appreciate it.

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

WHEN IN A TRAFFIC JAM, HOW DO I FIND AN ALTERNATIVE ROUTE?

With the route showing on your satnav, press MENU and then DETOUR. This should take you around the traffic jam. Alternatively you could just turn off, drive a distance from the traffic jam and let the satnav update your route to get you back on track. I hope this solves your problem.

How do I program my own route if the suggested route is not desired? Is there a way to save a route I have just taken?

when you navigate to the route and you dont like it...... press menu on that screen then press detour until you see the route you want.......

you can also check to see what avoidances you have chosen by going to Tools...Settings...Navigation... from here lok at your Route Preference chosen and under Avoidances make sure you have it Enable and check to see where the checkmarks are there to avoid

How do I set the GPS so it shows me the best route on main roads and not all the side, gravel and dirt roads

Click Tools.....Settings.....Navigation...

I like Faster Time.... you can change it to Shorter Distance or Off Road
depending on your gps

On Avoidances... I have it Enabled

click Avoidances.... I avoid U-Turns.....Traffic...Carpool Lanes...Unpaved Roads

click OK after your choices..

Good idea when you plan a route is to check it by arrowing down your map to make sure its the route you want to travel, if not go back to main page and click detour X to change route then you can save it if you like

Can you program the gps to never take a certain highway

unfortunately you cannot tell it where not to go. You can sometimes use the "detour" button and sometimes it will make a completely new route. Every time you ask it to route to a certain location, it makes a new route every time depending on your current location when you enter the destination.

I updated my c330 streetpilot and now it is sending me routes I don't want to take. How can I change the routes or delete certain highways from the route?

You can tell the unit if you would rather go Shorter Distance or Faster Time. You can also tell the unit you would like to avoid highways. But you cannot tell the unit you would like to avoid CERTAIN highways, nor can you delete individual roads from the unit. If you do not like the route the unit selects, you can press the Detour button at the bottom of the screen (once the route has been selected). If you know a better way to begin your journey, simply go that way and the unit will recalculate your route.

How do you get out of a route that is programmed

Most GPS devices (All Garmins) have a "cancel routing" or "Stop Current Route" button on the menu. I have a menu page that offers - recalculation, cancel or Add a route. You should too!

The TOM TOM One manual says

Start-up preferences
This button may only be available if all menu options are shown. To show all
menu options, tap Show ALL menu options.
For more information, see Hidden buttons and features on page29.
Tap this button to set what your ONE should do when you first switch it on. The
following options are available:

Continue where I left off - your ONE starts as it was when you switched it off.
Start-up

Ask for a destination - your ONE starts with Navigate to... menu. You can enter
preferences

I want my Garmin to take me on a different route to my destination than the one that has been selected by Garmin. Does anyone know if I can change it to the route I want? Thanks!

On most Garmins there's a button marked "detour". On the touch screen versions it's an on-screen button rather than a physical button.

Program for garmin c330

The c330 doesn't know if there is a detour or accident, however, if you need to take a detour from your current route, select DETOUR from the Menu page of the c330. The unit calculates a new route and provides you with new instructions. It then attempts to get you back on your original route as soon as possible.

Shortest Route and Fastest Route Garmin Nuvi 200

The problem could be in your avoidance settings. I know when I was in Delaware, a 1/2 hour trip turned out to be a 3 hour detour because I had set to avoid highways.

In Garmin, if it's checked, it means AVOID. I know the documentation isn't clear but I've learned from experience (trial & error).

Sometimes it happens. Garmin isn't perfect but it beats looking at a map most of the time.
