I have had the suction stop completely on the attachments. Call Dyson to troubleshoot. They had me remove (two different times) noodle shaped plastic pieces (once it was purple and the other time silver) from the outside of the vacuum. It took a minute to do. Inside was a bent pen and all sorts of debris that wrapped around it. Removed all, and it worked beautifully again. It had nothing to do with the filter, which I had cleaned several times to no avail.

Have you examined the hose to see if it is plugged. take a broom handle and gently push it thru the hose if it doesn't have bends in it.

Loss of suction and motor seems to be working harder than normal

Debbie,
What type of vacuum do you have? If you put it in, it did not come through with your question. To start with, if your vacuum has any type of filters, I would check those and make sure that they are clean. If they are washable, wash them according to the directions that come with the machine and let them completely dry before putting them back in. Check any hoses and nozzles for any clogs that would cut down on the suction. Hope this helps!

How do i fix a loss of suction in a Dyson DC25?

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your DC25 doesn't seem to be picking up as well as it should be, this could mean you have a blockage in the wand, hose or one of the airways. Your filters may also need a wash.

To check your machine thoroughly for any blockages, please follow each of the steps shown in our online Support guide: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc25/dc25-irsvsye/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/how-to-wash-filters/check-suction

In normal use we recommend washing both filters at least once every 3 months, as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 24 hours for both filters to dry completely before replacing them.

This should resolve things, but if you would like some further advice from our experts after giving these steps a try, you can reach us by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

There is loss of suction & when handle is locked upright it switches of power

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.
If your DC25 doesn't seem to be picking up as well as usual and shuts off in use, it's likely that it's overheating. This can be caused by a blockage - the filters may also need washing. To locate and clear any blockages please take a look at our Support guide:

http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc25/dc25-animal/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/how-to-wash-filters/check-suction

In normal use both filters need to be washed at least once every 3 months as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent and allow at least 24 hours for the filters to dry before replacing them.
This should resolve the issue but you can reach our freephone customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US) if you'd like any further advice.

Loss of suction in hose

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your DC24. If there doesn't seem to be as much suction as usual through the hose, there may be a blockage in the wand or hose. You may also need to give the filters a wash.

To locate and remove any blockages in your machine, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide:

http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc24/dc24-multi-floor/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/how-to-wash-filters/check-suction

In normal use, the filters need to be washed at least once a month, as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 24 hours for the filters to dry somewhere warm before replacing them.

This should resolve the issue, but if you'd like any further assistance or advice, please call us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

Best wishes,

Jack

Suction is low, but bucket is not full and filter is relatively clean

The filter may be relatively clean, but if there's a lot of fined dust in your area the pores of the filter will fill and clog fairly quickly. Try replacing the filter and see what happens. If you don't have a spare, consider purchasing one for use while the other is drying out. Then alternate.
A leaky hose could also cause a loss of suction, as could a broke or cracked flex tube (the short piece in the power head).

My eureka 437 stopped sucking

Hello,
I believe the filter on your vacuum is clogged. Bagless vacuums require the filter be brushed or washed and dried, If they are not, the filter will clog, resulting in the reduction of suction. Clean filter about every 3 months or sooner if the same problem happens again. Hope this helps.

Dyson suction loss

make sure the filters in the bottom are clean, then remove the canister and you will need to clean it thouroughly, pay close attention to the upper section inside where the "cones" come togetheri have read that they are prone to clog up here and lose suction, google dyson suction loss or how to clean a dyson ect...pay attention to getting the rod that releases the bottom to dump back in the correct place or it will not work right. a few write ups tell about this!
