You either have to many programmes on start up, or you more than likely have a trojan or virus, you probably get pop ups when on the net.

to clear unwanted programmes from the startup download and install free CCleaner and click the tools menu and then startup list, you can then remove, although this doesn't uninstal the programme, just stop it starting aoutomatically

Blank screen, power on nothing on screen

A black screen on startup can be so many things! I have learned this lesson the hard way. Never turn off the computer when it is half way through the boot procedure. Even when it is taking forever, or having a major problem you must let it run through if possible. Interrupting it once may be ok, but twice or three times is a no no. After you have carelessly restarted and shutdown a few times the black screen may appear. But this time it may be beyond repair for the average computer user.

Need to reset factory settings to wipe laptop clean but dont have a disc

hi
there is two ways to do it.

Laptop Recovery Instructions
If you cant boot into windows

1. Power on the machine
2. At the white ACER BIOS screen, hold the "Alt" key and press the "F10" key
simultaneously to start Acer eRecovery
3. Once eRecovery has loaded, click "Restore to Factory Default Settings"
4. Click "OK" to continue
5. From here, the eRecovery process will update all the data on the C: drive
and restore a fully functional factory image (approximately 10 minutes).
6. Once eRecovery has run, press "OK" to reboot unit

If you can boot into windows

Click "START"
All Programs
Acer/ Packard Bell/ E-machine recovery
Select "Recovery management"
Click "Restore"
Click "Fully restore to factory default"
NB: This process takes about 15 to 20 min

Overheating and turning off

Laptop shuts down? Computers may not be smarter than people, but if they’re designed properly, they will shut themselves down before overheating to the extent that they do themselves damage. If the smart person keeps turning the notebook back on and figures out a way to foil the protection, the laptop is probably doomed. Once a laptop shuts down for thermal event protection, it may refuse to power back up for a fixed period of time, five or ten minutes, or it may begin to boot and shut down immediately as soon as it boots to the point that it can figure out that its too hot. The over-temperature protection is generally a BIOS rather than an operating system function, so one sign of an overheated laptop is one that shuts itself down while you’re using it and then refuses to boot as far as the operating system unless you leave it alone for an hour or so to cool down. Unless you’ve been working in a very unfriendly environment, high temperatures, direct sunlight, etc, you should take even a single overheating shutdown as a warning to back up your data at the first opportunity and to give the cooling system a serious cleaning.

Won't boot up at all, all I get is a flashing cursor at the top left hand corner of the screen. Loaded "Sceen Washer" yesterday! Could this be the problem ? also loaded it on my other laptop but it's...

is that before or after your bios posts

if after, it could be a bad hard drive (sitting waiting to boot from it, but unable to or taking forever)

if before, well, enjoy your new laptop you get to replace this one

Solo 9559 can not pass the initial screen

it may be the bios.... remove the bios battery for at least ten minutes... make sure the main battery is removed
so there is NO power to the laptop for about ten minutes
.... after you reinstall the bios battery and put the main battery back in and plug in the external power.... boot it up again.

Computer restarts by itself continuously and does not boot up completely

hi im wesley. ok to restore to factory settings go to your bios witch is when you boot up and press delete to enter setup thwn at the bottom of the screen it will say like F5 for default settings press that button and it will reset if it doesnt work open the computer up and take the power out and take the battery out for bout 10 minutes and then place it back in along with the power and it will reset. you might have to format your hard drive because it might be a virus that keeps rebooting your computer i had the same problem once.
