Question about Ruud UBHC Air Conditioner

Ac will not cool off

The ac started not to cool during the day and would be nice and cold at night. The AC man stated that we were low on freon. So we had him add freon and clean the coils on the outside unit. Since he placed the freon, there has not been a change for the better if any thing its hotter. What did he do wrong?? Help!!!

There are only 2-choices for this problem,,, 1= low on freon or 2-low air flow across the indoor coils which can be caused by dirty filter--- dirty fan blades and last but not least , dirty or plugged inside coils. After the unit has been cleanned , then he's suppose to check the freon last..

My ac starts but it doesn't wanna cool whats the problem??

Multiple issues, it could be low on freon (depending on the model replacing it may require a authorized repair man). Or it could be the condenser coils aren't charging properly. When it turns on do you notice an audible click when the temp setting should kick the a/c on? If not it's then the coils could be clogged or not connected properly.

SPLIT AC CONDENSER TRIPS AFTER 1 OR 2 MINS, ONLY DURING THE DAY TIME

The condensor is not cooling fast enough. Try cleaning the condensor coil. Also check that the fan goes on. At night the outside temperature is cooler and does not need much work to cool down the condensor.

What's is wrong when an AC on a 2001 Chevy impala

Hi, this sounds to me like a loss of freon, a small leak. Raise your hood and look for a small canister with a copper line going in and out the other side, and it will have a small sight glass on top. Turn on your a/c and see the freon going through it. If you see lots of foam or air bubbles in it, this is the filter drier, this means it is low on freon. This car will use 134-a that you can buy at any auto store. When it is cool outside like at night, there is not much of a demand put on the compressor, this is why it works better. Also, have someone stand in front of car, SET BRAKE and in PARK with the a/c off. Start the car Now have them watch and listen when you turn on the a/c. They will hear the clutch engage. It will turn on the end of a pulley. If it cycles on and back off, and keeps doing this, its is for sure low on freon!! This is called short cycling. Get it charged and if its a small leak it should get you through the heat. Good Luck,

Rv ac throws the breaker when outside temp gets high, unit works fine at night when outside temp cools down

Clean evap and cond coils
Place hand on a/c if too hot during the day but cool at night
then freon is being restricted in the condensor
Cleaning coils may help days
Put a trickle of water on the condensor during the day for a test.

AC wont get cold

how dirty is the filter(s), also is the weather quite humid?if so it may be trying to stay ahead of the humidity,,did the TECH check for a pressure drop while he was there? and did he vacuum it down and nitrogen it and start from scratch? if it leaked down that fast it should have shown on the gauges when he performed the initial gauge test and w/o vacuuming it down,it could have moisture in the system and moisture will inhibit cooling

Ice is forming on coil fins

Either your coil is dirty or filter is dirty. Worst case your low on freon which would make a coil freeze. But freon doesn't evaporate if your low there must be a slow leak.

Ac unit starts cold than blows warm for a short period than blows cold intermitedly!

If your house is not getting cold enough when your A/C is turned on (because of your AC's intermitent cool-warm blowout), it is time for a good cleaning. There are a variety of factors that may cause your A/C to not cool your house. With that said, here is a diagnostic article that provides the most probable causes of your A/C's failure to cool your house, and from there you can read it and then, step by step, rule out each possible cause listed in the article:

http://yourhandymanzone.com/Your_Handyman_Zone_How_To_Pages_Home_Improvement_Zone_Cooling_Ventilation_Systems_Central_Air_Conditioning_Does_Not_Cool.htm

Of course, a low level of Freon/refrigerant may be the problem, but there may be other problem causes as well, as noted in the article---it may just be that debris is obstructing your AC as well. Read the article, and, actually, your best bet may be to take advantage--towards the END of the above-linked article--of the text-link for Free four (4) quotes from local AC contractors in your area, and "pick the brain"--seek the advice--of these local technicians who offer you a free quote to discern what could be the problem. Also, since you may need a Freon/refrigerant recharge, you'll ultimately need this AC contractor to do it for you, since federal law prohibits the selling of Freon/refrigerant to anyone other than licensed AC contractors/technicians.

Do i have to add water to the uniot to make it

No. Water is not what makes an AC cold. It is a refrigerant gas called Freon. Water is only a by-product of an AC system caused by condensation. If your AC is not blowing cold air the system might be either low on Freon or completely empty due to a leak. It should be checked out by a certified AC specialist.

AC not cooling during the day

Your AC cooling efficiency is low when he ambient temperature is high and naturally it cools well when the outside temperature drops.

Please remove the filter on the grill and try to clean it under the tap water and after removing all the dust fix it back to the unit. This would increase the cooling efficiency of the unit.

Your AC is also five years old. Please avoid frequent opening of doors or windows.

Ensure that the exhaust fan and the blower of your unit are functioning normal.

The technician might not have done a proper job in fixing the area where the refrigerant would have leaked out. Please check the refrigerant pressure to ensure that no further refrigerant leak has taken place. Or even servicing your unit he would have punchered the tubes resulting in very slow leak of refrigerant resulting in no cooling or less cooling. It takes around a month to feel the pinch of it and the refrigerant. One fine morning after sometime the unit will run and it would start throwing hot air instead of cool breeze!
