Hi,
an easy way to sort out the problem area in dvd recorder is arrange another same model recorder and exchange its power supply for confirmation. If power supply board found ok, next board have to confirm and so this you will locate exact board or section of defect.

The main board needs a general diagnosis. Check any burned components like resistors, transistors, capacitors, ICs, transformers and other internal components. Since you said its not turning on, you may need to start checking the power supply section like the transformer.

Trace the power cable going to the unit's circuit board. That power cable is definitely connected to the power supply. Normally you can see a transformer there that is connected to the power cable. Check if that part or section has a burned components or parts.

It seems power supply section problem ,the voltage regulator transistor is busted already, and try to look also for loose, crack or cold solder, that is causes no voltage supply, you better to reworks the solder joint so voltages can supply....

Hope his may help you..

Ok if your getting power to it and you can turn it on and off but you don't get a display and you have no other controls, the power supply module on the main board is faulty. chances are from the heat that the unit receives over time has caused the fault. please rate this

the fist thing you should try different disks or a well worked disk in the past.
if that is not working try cleaning the lens using the lens cleaner.

Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices...

One thing is that unless it is usb you should always have the devices powered DOWN before connecting them via" wire electric data cables". it only takes 3 static volts of electricity to damage a circuit board. when you zap you buddy when you wear sox its 20 to 30,000 volts of static electricity so 3 volts would not be known let alone felt or seen. Power down and you will be well not you .
