My kenmore diswasher does not drain fully. I took 6 quarts of water out of the bottom this morning. I removed the drain plug on the vent in the cellar and it was clear. This has happened several times over the past couple of weeks. The drain line is clear and looks empty so it may not be clogged.

check your hose going to the disposal. it needs to route up and above the disposal , then loop it back down to the disposal connect. this keeps it from gravity feeding back into your dishwasher. good luck!
The drain is clogged. When the drain clogs it can also clogs the airflow vents. Remove the back wall of the freezer to access the drain. Remove all the ice blocking the drain and the vents. Then use a trukey baser to force hot water down the drain until water flows freely. Then mix water with baken soda and pour it down the drain. http://www.appliance-repair-it.com/refrigerator-leaking.html
That trans should take 4.2 quarts of John Deere lo-visc hygaurd. With both plugs removed from bottom of trans as well as the bigger black plug on the front side of trans,it should fully drain in about 5 minutes.Dont forget to unscrew the black fill plug from top/left side of trans so it can vent.Your book may say not to remove it but it's a misprint. When you go to fill trans dont install fill plug until oil is at top of threads, then install plug/cap.Continue to fill trans through white plastic tank until its level with lines.
I removed the kick plate and unhooked the hose that connects to the bottom of the dishwasher. When I didn't get a gush of water, I knew my problem was higher than that. I took a pair tweezers and stuck it up the spout and found nothing. So I attempted to drain the diswasher with the hose unhooked and got some water to come out. I did this several times and apparently flushed down a large piece of rubber--either from a water bottle or a broken piece from inside the dishwasher. I removed that piece and had pressure when the drain button was activated. So I hooked the hose back up and ran a rinse cycle--and it drained fine.
I have a very bad smell in my elite kenmore diswasher. We have had it for a year now. I have been smelling this now for several weeks and I didn't know where the smell was coming from until this morning when I pulled the door down to unload my dishes.
Many dishwasher have their drainlines tied into under sink disposers. If a person caps the sink drain while dishwasher is running, it can back the water back to the washer keeping dishes dirty and backing up water
Try blowing into the drain line with a wet/dry vac. This sometimes removes clogs. Otherwise, hold the hose above the unit and fill it with water. If there is no clog the water should appear at the bottom of the dishwasher after a few quarts.
