Question about Maytag Neptune MAH5500B Front Load Washer
During the spin cycle of the wash the washer make a extremely load noise like an jet taking off.
Does the drum have bearings in it?
I do know there is a set of bearings on the drum drive shaft. There is an inner and an outer. Some places mention that these bearings are no longer available. However, I found on ebay a gentlemen who sells these bearing and the seals in a kit for about $80.00. It comes with instructions on how to repair and will save a lot of money. I have done this once already to the same washer, now I am doing it again. If you search on ebay maytag neptune parts you will find his listing for a bearing kit. He also describes the jet engine noise.

Just had the repairman here today for a smoking problem with mine lately. He said it could be the "center bearing", so yes, there seem to be bearings in them. (He also said it could be the control board, so we are in a wait and see mode before tackling a $500 repair...)
