Its the most common poblem with the ax 100-200 projector. Many a times only the ballast requires to be replaced.yet on may occasions both mainboard and ballast requires replacement. its best to confirm with a good known working ax200 and replace first the lamp, ballast and the mainboard.panasonic ax 200 lamps also have failed premature as per my experience.
The "CONTROL KEY" may be set to "OFF". In order to set the "CONTROL KEY" to "ON" without using the remote control unit, keep holding down the ENTER button on the projector and press the MENU button for more than 2 seconds.
So, Shutting down to protect itself. The error light says it needs service, Cycling power makes it work for a few more minutes, then the Panasonic safety circuit shuts it down. Projector shuts down when bulb life gets to the danger zone, and also when its heat sensor says there is a problem. So you have a bulb life issue or you have a dirty projector / fan cooling issue??
I say clean it up with some compressed air when it is cool, then check the # of hours the bulb has on it (in the menu).
Lastly brace yourself, the bulb is gonna hurt you :-$
