Hi! I a defrosing the freezer part of my GE side by side because the ice maker has not worked since last December. I have turned the freezer off and I think that has stopped the air flow to the refrigrator part. Help, please!!

Hi: The ice maker is thermally protectec. In other words the freezer has to be at Zero degrees. Not just frozen, but zero. Your ice cream should be rock hard. Before you call a service tech try setting your freezer colder. Wait 24 hours before a change. It's human nature to check on the icemaker from time to time, But don't keep opening the freezer to see if it's working. You'll just dump the cold air out and make matters work. I hope this helps.
