SOURCE: yamaha rx-v461 not working

Does the reciever have separate speaker switches?
Try turning off the speakers and turning on the amp.
If it doesnt have speaker switches , make sure ALL the speakers are connected at both ends and try turning on the amp again.

SOURCE: Compatibility issue: Sony BDPS350 Blue-ray & Yamaha RX-V1700?

HDMI compatibility issues continue to plague the industry and this more than likely is the problem. There are a couple of ways around this. Some people insist on "hot rodding" the dvd and tv by hooking up directly to each other avoiding the receiver all togeether (I do this). But you lose functionality and it makes things more complicated for other family members. Your best bet is to use RGB and Digital audio cables. You won't notice any quality loss and there is a possibility it will look better.

I have a Yamaha Rx -V465 AV receiver When turn the system on it will not stay on. I switch outlets it would do the same.

First disconnect all speaker cables and all input cables (optical, HDMI, everything expect power). If receiver powers off itself immediately even without anything connected, it is faulty and you need to send it for repair.

If it works without cables, then you probably have bad cables and/or short-circuit in the speaker connection and receiver is turning off to prevent damage. Double-check your connection and that no speaker "+" cable has a contact with any "-" cable or connector. Even one little strand of cable touching the opposite polarity connecter is enough to cause a short-circuit.

My JVC RX6030V Turns itself off after a short on period. (a few seconds) do you know what this might be? Could it be a fuse? I found one fuse, but it looks good and tried the foil trick. Maybe I am not...

Don't do the foil trick unless you have a fire extingusher handy.

Generally speaking, an amp attempts to protect itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on; or it may turn on but produce no audio to the speakers.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'nekkid'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.

I have a Yamaha rx-v3000 receiver that lately has begun shutting itself off and then I have to keep hitting the power button until it finally stays on again. This may take 20 times of pushing the power...

Maybe a cool-down is what really fixes it, huh?

Cost is way out of scope for us to predict.

Check for loose speaker connections at the speaker as another possible root cause for intermittent shutdown.

Rx-v390 when i trun on power after few second auto shut off.. what could be the problem I changed all Fuse (4A 125V) still have same problem.

The problem is with either the Amplifier or the Speakers.

If you disconnect the Speakers and then turn back on and get the same fault then it is the Amplifier.

If it stays on OK then you need to turn off again and connect one Speaker at a time (turning off again between each one) until you find the fault Speaker.

If it is the Amplifier thats faulty then it could be a simple repair that would involve replacing some Capacitors but you would need a Soldering Iron and the knowledge how to de-solder and re-solder components to a PCB.

If you need any further assistance then just ask.
