Samsung ml-1740 printer - their driver not...

Please help me.

I have downloaded the printer driver from Samsung, and it says it is not compatible with my Windows OS system. I have a new 64 bit Toshiba Satellite M305-4830 laptop.

I've tried installing the Ml-1750 driver to see if that would work but it doesn't either.

How could I get my printer to work?

I would be thrilled if you could help me.

I found a solution quite by accident. I had downloaded the latest Samsung driver to a flash drive and then copied it to the "C" drive of the new computer. Every attempt to open and run it failed due to alleged incompatibility. I then opened control panel and selected printers. I deleted the samsung printer and then ran the driver directly from the flash drive. Voila! It worked! It is now up and running perfectly.

Samsung has a Universal Print Driver (XP/Vista/32 or 64 bits) which worked for me. I installed it my 64 Bit Vista Laptop and was able to print via USB. Then I installed it on my XP desktop and made the printer shareable. I was then able to disconnect the USB and install the network printer.

Grab the GDI variation of the Vista driver posted in later December. Seems to work!

you must go to printer in control panel, then right click the desired printer icon, then click properties, then click on Port. then if using usb port, you must check each port untill you find the correct usb port that you are connected to (click apply each time). may take a couple tries untill you find the correct usb Port that the cable is connected to. worked on my HP desktop, finally

I used the ML-1740 driver for XP x64. Extract the contents of the driver executable you download from Samsung, then manually add your printer and point to the WINXP_64 folder from the extracted folders. I did this on Server 2008 x64 but it should apply to Vista x64 as well.

though i've tried installing my ML-1740 with its original disk and with the latest vista driver that samsung provides online, no printer icon is visible in the "printer" section of the control panel for me to click on to select a port. can anyone tell me, step-by-step, how they've gotten their printer working with windows vista 64 bit? thank you!
