Question about Casio EXILIM ZOOM EX-Z850 Digital Camera
I have an EX-Z850 given to me because the LCD screen is broken. It takes pictures/movies fine, but I can't change STUFF (like date, mode ....) without the screen.
Can I talk to it over the USB? If the OS is Linux, I can get my head around that. As it stands, it's a wonderful, but badly crippled tool.
Do you guys have a schematic?
I have a perfectly good Z750, so I'm not at the end of my tether, but it's a shame to have the 850 sitting around. Maybe it's a webcam waiting to be born. It's got all the right parts.
Thanks, that's known solution for LCD replacement, but the problem is "How to talk to Z850 via USB?"
I think it must be a trick to connect this cam like a webcamera.

Another option is to replace the screen yourself. I just crack my screen on my Z850 and will attempt to replace the screen myself. You can purchase a replacement screen on ebay for about $60. Checkout http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVMzSvI2G-w for video of some guy replacing the screen. Looks easy enough.
