Go to the supply house and ask for an in-line tap! SSSSSSSSSShhhhhhhhhh(the mechanic might had connected the wrong end of the hose,(one end has a hole and the other end has a valve stem depresser to depress the valve stem to let in-out freon.. Or the older type, you have a king valve and has to be turned to open or close the ports!) ssssshhhhhhhhh!!

How to add freon in a centralized air conditioning unit

The compressor needs to be running. Also you need freon charging guages and a pressure temp chart to tell how much you need to add.
If your not sure of anything i said here have a service person do this. You take a risk of damaging the unit and yourself.

I have a 220 window unit and won't get cold can I add freon and how

Generally, no. It's not normally a DIY project. Unless you have all the equipment (evaporator pump to remove and capture any freon (Now,R14) that's still in the unit, The high and low pressure gauges, etc). It's best left to the pros, as the unit may not be low on R14 gas. It may very well be a condensing sensor that has failed. Kent, there are a few times, when it's best left to the pros. And this is one of them. Especially, since yours is a 220 unit.

Hope I was able to help you. Please let me know. Thanks.

Need to add 'freon' to my samsung window unit.

Hello, in order to add freon to a window unit you must add a piercing valve to then low side of the system. The valve mounts to the suction line and allows you to connect your gauges and add freon. Here is a link to where you can purchase piering valves. http://www.hvacr-tools.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=HVACR&Product_Code=BPV31&Category_Code=VALVES

I have a fedders ac unit that does not put out cold air only for a couple of minutes. model # A2Q06F2BG-D can i add freon

Hello, you can add freon by installing a piercing valve on the low side of the system. Before adding freon I would check and make sure the air filter and both coils are clean. If everything is clean then most likey the unit has a leak and is low on freon.

Carrier Infinity System...would low freon cause a low pressure lockout? Could it be something as simple as changing the filter?

Hi,
Yes and yes....
Could be either and they act a lot alike...
So make sure you filter is clean... the evaporator coil is completely deiced, and the blower is moving the proper amount of air for the unit you have... 300-400 CFM/ton...

Then if it is still locking out on low pressure, you are under charged...
do not try to add freon your self...

My Amanda wall unit keeps freezing up. Cleaned filter and coils, please advise. Thanks, Gilbert

If a AC unit starts to freeze up, then that is a sure sign that it is low on freon. A wall unit is harder to add freon to since those units generally do not have Shrader valves to purge or add freon. It is sort of like your refridgerator in that the freon is sealed in the factory and to add , a technician has to cut the evaporator tube and add a valve, then add freon, pinch the tube off and seal it once the correct pressure is adjusted.

I would say that somehow your unit has developed a leak, and will get worse.

Fasn works but unit not cooling

These are sealed units and there is not an access port to add freon. A service tech can break into the system by adding a valve or line tap. You should not have to add freon however unless it has developed a leak in the system. These units hold a very small amount of refrigerant however and the leaks can be very hard to find and repair. 90 percent of the time these units are not low on refrigerant. The problem is usually a dirty condenser or outside coil. Take a toilet brush or other semi soft brush and brush it up and down and then blow through it with a garden hose. Make sure power is off to the unit. Do not put so much pressure to it that it bends the fins on the coil but you should be able to was water through the coil. I've been on many, many service calls where the customer insisted that it was low on freon and a good cleaning solved the problem. Especially if you live in an area where the cotton from cottonwood trees is common

How do you add coolant to a goldstar air conditioner

There are two lines leading into the unit, the high side aND THE LOW SIDE. tO ADD FREON you need to add a valve to the low side line. But if you have a leak that indicates that moisture is in the unit and you need to pull a valum to remove the moisture before ADDING ANY FREON. There are as last known three types of freon, R22, R134a and this last one I dont even know the name.

Ac will not cool off

There are only 2-choices for this problem,,, 1= low on freon or 2-low air flow across the indoor coils which can be caused by dirty filter--- dirty fan blades and last but not least , dirty or plugged inside coils. After the unit has been cleanned , then he's suppose to check the freon last..
