You need to get in touch with the manufacturer as most hard drives carry a 5 year normal use warranty, but that depends on the manufacturers warranty

External Usb Hard Drive Data Recovery

Have a external Hard drive? Does not power on or the computer does not find it? Do these steps below for your fix.

Folks I am going to demonstrate to you how to save your data on your failed external usb hard drive.

The Videos below will show you how to retrieve the hard drive out of a My book 1TB drive. This method can be used for all external hard drives as there all basically SATA drives.

1. You need a flat head screw driver.
2. You take the drive in your hand and you pry it open around the sides and back there are no screws on this drive.
3. Once you got it open you basically follow the steps below in the video and what you can do is put this hard drive inside of another case or directly into the computer.

The videos are kinda dark but you can basically see and hear what I am doing here folks.

When you follow my video's here you will have a fix as long as the drive is not crashed. Opening the drive up VOIDS the warranty for the drive so please if you have a warranty and care less about the data sent it back to the manufacture.

I hope you find these video's helpful

Dell desktop says no boot device available

Good Morning

I looks like your computer is trying to boot off of a floppy disk that is not present or doesnt work.

Hit the f2 and enter setup
Look for BOOT
and choose c: drive or hard disk drive as your first boot device.

If this fixes the problem then you know your hard drive is good. If the drive is good you probably want your first boot device to be your dvd or cd rom drive. Then you want your Hard drive second.

If your hard drive wont boot the drive itself could be bad or your operating system will need to be reinstalled.

Good Luck

Dell Inspiron 570 loud hard drive hum.....(?)

Any strange noise like excessive clicking, grinding, some weird sounds etc. actually indicate a failing hard drive.
Failing hard drives often show warning signs of their imminent demise. If you're lucky enough to see or hear one of these signs, stop what you're doing and immediately back up your data. They say prevention is better than cure so if your computer's hard disk is making some strange clicking sounds, BACK UP YOUR DATA IMMEDIATELY (As the drive is not operating smooth and may fail anytime).
After making backup of your important data on CD/DVD or External Drive, you may scan the drive for surface errors, format it and see if it works properly or not. It would be better if you seek professional assistance for examination of the disk.

Hard drives are mostly under warranty for at least one year. Claim warranty, if possible.
Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

The system is not booting.... it gives bad sound once i start the laptop and then it says cant able to detect media etc. I checked with the worshop guy and looks like from his perspective its hard drive...

I suppose your laptop must still be under warranty, so you could easily get a replacement for the faulty hard drive.
If it is out of warranty, then depending on various factors (budget, warranty) you would have choices. Seagate is a well known brand for hard drives. You may want to check the availability with the Lenovo service center guys too.

Need to replace my harddrive

If your system is running under warranty. I suggest not to open the system. Just take the system to manufacture support center they will replace it without any cost.

But make sure you have the bill copy and warranty document with you.

If it is already over just unscrew the cabinet and remove the replace the new disk with new one.

Wt is BIOHD-08 error

from what I gather on other sites, it has to do with the hard drive in your system. From other posts it appears that means the system detects the hard drive is going out.

I would highly recommend backing up all your data as soon as possible, then checking to see if the computer/drive is under warranty and having them replace it if so. If not under warranty I would purchase a new hard drive.

My Maxtor external hard drive is clicking and not available via Explorer

Clicking sound from the hard drive means that the hard drive is not able to get to the boot track where the start up info is. The hard drive has a problem. If it is under warranty, call for service.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

take it out of the enclosure and test it directly connected to the computer,
if it does not spin or work it is likely under a 3 year warranty .
look at the label on the drive and it will have a serial and date code .
contact Seagate for warranty. if it says oem on the drive code you likely have no warranty unless your visa card doubles the warranty.
