Question about Vtech V.Smile Pocket
The unit powers on and says vsmile till the point u put a game in to play it.
then it shuts off as soon as the game is inserted in to the slot to me this seams like a short on the mother board. where can i find a scematic for this unit or do u have any suggestions for me.
You are suppose to put the cartridge in first and then turn on the game.

We experienced the same issues on 3 different MobiGo units. New games would work and then at some point stop being recognized or they would be recognized, but the unit would turn off when you selected the cartridge.
Fix: Use a Q-Tip to clean the contacts of the cartridge. The Q-Tip was too thick to insert so I cut it in half and the stiff cardboard shaft fits perfectly. Rub back and forth across the contacts on both sides. You will notice a black smudge left on the Q-Tip.
If that didn't work then I went to the next level. I could not figure out the term to describe this but to say that you might have to fog up the cartridge contacts asyou would do to clean your glasses. Once the contacts are moist from your breath clean them with the Q-Tip shaft. This worked on several cartridges. You should probably use rubbing alcohol instead of your breath since these are electronic components.

The system doesn't have advance lead in power and ground on the card slot or cartridges. You must always have it powered off when you changed carts. You may have fried something.

The issue may be the game itself. Check to see if the contacts on the game cartridge are dirty. If all contacts are not clean (all should look the same, clean & shiny), clean with a pencil eraser then wipe with a clean dry cloth to remove eraser bits.

Have you tried new batteries? I know that sounds silly, but everytime I've ever had a problem with a Vtech toy, that is where they tell me to start.
