If you are sure that the speaker wiring is correct and connections are good, then:

  • Check the input and output connections are correct for each source.
  • Check that the input mode is not set to DTS or Analog - rotate the input selector to the source and the press the input mode, set it to Auto.
  • Also check that the front speakers to be used are selected A or B (or A+B).
  • If there is an optimiser microphone supplied with this receiver, ensure that it is not still plugged in.
Hope one of these solutions work for you.

SOURCE: Yamaha RX-V1600 shuts down in seconds

Your Yamaha RX-V1600 has an audio output transistors are mounted to a large heat sink which keeps them cool during operation. They are electrically isolated from touching the heat sink by an electrical insulating washer. But, in order to keep them cool and allow for good thermal conductivity of the heat generated by the output transistors the washers are treated with a heat conducting grease. Over time this grease will dry out and lose its heat conductivity ability allowing the temperature of the transistors to rise; as the heat goes up they conduct more current and cause the protection system to activate and shut the set down (in order to avoid damage to the set).

You need to check or replace the transistor that's on the heat sink. Or you may contact a pro to replace it for you.

Good luck!

SOURCE: How to solve the the

Step 1: Get the manual out.

Step 2: Search it for W-1.

It's only a warning that the subwoofer phase is possibly reversed which can **** some of the bass out of the room at the microphone's position. If you CAN change the phasing, try it and retest. Otherwise repositioning the sub may yield a different result or it may just be a glitch.

Use a search engine and read up on speaker phasing.

Yamaha rx-v1600 hdmi output not working

Have you inspected the HDMI socket? I had the same problem and the socket had been damaged by a tight fit cabinet with insuficcient space behind the amplifier. A sideways cable tug on the inserted HDMI cable had snapped a small piece of plastic seperating the two rows of HDMI connectors, and three were splayed out, so no connection when plugged in. Solution was to carefully re-align the connector fingers and glue a tiny piece of insulating material between the two rows. The output now works perfectly. A bit fiddley, but worth the trouble when you look at how much Yamaha would charge to fit a new socket, or even a new board!
