If it's under network lock you can get the Correct unlock code from the site Superunlockcodes.com/nokia-x6/rs12wp9/ and get free Unlocking instructions at Mobileunlockguide.com/nokia-x6 unlock it from network lock step by step.......Nokia has 5 Unlocking tries if those tries finished by entering wrong code you can't unlock it..It will get hard locked ,so you need to go to store and flash it....
Also Only GSM Network locked Phones can be unlocked ...CDMA Network locked phones cannot be unlocked...To Unlock from security lock try default codes like 1234 or 0000....

Forget that stupid 'sim unlock' instructions as that is clearly not your problem. Pattern lock has NOTHING to do with sim unlocking.

Instructions;
1. turn phone on, wait on screen asking for pattern lock
2. connect to computer (install drivers, this can be done while installing their software)
3. login with 'test' - 'srscom'
4. select your phone model and click rescan (or manually set port)
5. hit 'Reset user code' button
6. done

If your phone displays the 'USIM locked' then your phone is currently locked to particular network. You need to unlock to use it with other network.
There can be many ways to Unlock your phone. As far as i know unlocking by codes is the simple and safe way. I will suggest the website Unlock-zone.com which is doing good service and they were recommended highly in the cell phone forums.
