Hi austenitic, there does not appear to be a Asus P5G-TVM/S board. Please look directly on the Asus board & you will find (In White lettering) the correct model number.
To look for the Asus board you're self click on the link below.
In the top right hand corner is a Search window. Type in you're model number & click the -----> (Arrow button).
Or post the correct Asus model.

If i,m still awake sure, i,ll give you my best advice that i can possibly give.
Try plugging the drives into another computer to see if they actually work, ie read discs etc if they do then try swapping the power supply out of your computer.. if this doesn't work then I would say your motherboard is dead.
