My owner manual does not explain how to oil this machine. Is it pre oiled at factory and does not ever need oiling?

You oil this machine anyplace that it moves and rubs. Needle bar, joints that drive the needle bar,end of each shaft, presser foot bar, hook race etc. Do not use 3 in 1 oil. Use a good quality sewing machine oil.

How do I un-attach the the standard zig-zag presser foot in order to put on the zipper foot? My machine did not come with the click on and off type seen in the manual. I have a model XL 5700. It just may...

I just looked at your manual, and if you look at page 9 you will see the little lever in back of the foot adaptor to release, just push that to release that foot. If, you have any questions on it, take it to your dealer or just go to JoAnn fabrics and have them show you. Even Sears sewing department is great for demos. Unless your machine is not an XL 5700 it does have snap on presser feet. You will see how really easy it is to do once someone shows. Good luck and have fun with it, Happy Easter

Describe your how to oil singer xl 6000 Problem

Singer doesn't recommend self-oiling on this machine, that is why there are no instructions in the manual. You should take your machine to a trusted repair facility for oiling.

My xl-5700 the needle keeps breaking or the thread keeps getting all bunched up plus I lost my instruction manual can I gat a new one

About the needle problem, Brother's FAQ gives the following response:

Make sure the needle is correctly inserted with the flat side facing the back and pushed up into the machine as far as possible.

The needle could have been damaged or bent. If so replace with a new one.

Make sure the fabric is not pulled excessively when sewing. Let the feed dogs move the fabric. Do not pull the fabric.

The combination of needle size, thread size and fabric is incorrect.
Be sure to use the correct needle and thread size for the fabric you are sewing.(example: Denim-size 16 needle and 40-50 heavy duty thread).

Can't select stitches 11-21

To select stitches 11-21 you position the stitch length dial on the "SS" setting , and the pattern selecting dial on the desired stitch number.
