How do i associate files in windows 8.1? like .rif, etc

Opening RIF files Did your computer fail to open a RIF file? We explain what RIF files are and recommend software that we know can open or convert your RIF files.
What is a RIF file? The .rif file extension is most commonly used for Painter raster image files. These files are created by the Corel Painter image editing application. The RIF files contain raster graphics, floating objects and other image properties. The RIF file format allows a user to keep the actual image painting separate from the canvas of the image so the canvas can be edited at a later time.

The .rif file extension is also used for Resource Interchange File Format bitmap image files, Rockwell ADPCM format files, FutuRUG encrypted resident information files and MicroTik RouterOS dump files.

What's your problem?hw to edit picture

Your computers will have a simple photo editing program included. Or you can also use some good apps to edit a photo. I use ArcSoft PhotoStudio. It is an easy to use photo editing program with feature-rich image editor that enhance your digital photos.

How to edit picture?

Hi

You don't say which operating system you are using.

Photo Editing requires Photo Editing Software.

To do basic photo editing (cropping, rotating, flipping, adjust brightness, adjust contrast, adjust image size, adjust colo(u)r, adjust exposure, adjust size, adjust red eye) you can use free, built-in software that comes bundled with Windows and Microsoft Office such as: Paint, Microsoft Picture Viewer and Windows Photo Gallery.

In increasing order of editing functions:

Windows Photo Gallery: Fix > Auto Adjust, Adjust Exposure, Adjust Colour, Crop Picture, Fix Red Eye

Microsoft Office Picture Viewer: Picture > Brightness & Contrast, Colour, Crop, Rotate, Flip, Red Eye Removal, Resize, Compress.

Paint: Image > Flip/Rotate, Resize/Skew, Crop, Invert Colours, Adjust Attributes, Clear Image, Opaque.

In Paint you can also use additional tools to manipulate the image or add or delete shapes, text and colour (with a selection of writing or drawing implements): Free Form Select, Select, Fill with Colour, Magnifier, Brush, Text, Curve, Polygon, Rounded Rectangle, Ellipse, Rectangle, Line, Airbrush, Pencil, Pick Colour, Eraser/Colour Eraser.

In Windows Photo Gallery you can view and edit the same image in either of these 3 programs by clicking Open.

For more advanced photo editing, you can use the bundled software that comes with digital cameras such as:

Adobe Photoshop Elements

ACDSee

Picasa

Photo Studio

For more advanced, professional standard photo editing you must buy expensive Photo Ediiting and Graphic Design software such as:

Adobe Photoshop

Adobe LightRoom

Adobe Illustrator

Adobe InDesign

CorelDRAW

Corel Painter

I hope this helps.

Hello, my problem with corel video studios pro x2 is that once i start using it it will work for a little while and then it will slow up a small bit and then it will close down saying there is a problem,...

Hi Laura,

It sounds to me like you are trying to edit either a) large files (HD, or similar) or b) a standard definition file, but a long video. After a while (depending on yuor computer system) your computer system will find it too much to keep all of those thousands of images which make the video going! I would suggest 1) (if you are serious about editing) get a serious computer, if you don't already which can handle the large files, you will want a high RAM, or 2) create smart proxy files for each video which should make editing a bit easier, but realisticly you want a very good computer for video editing :)

How do you relink a file to corel videostudio?

Using a USB key is the worst thing you can do when you are video editing.
When you are editing video it is best to have the video clips on your main hard drive for the best Play back and rendering performance.
Video editing software doesn't actually change the original files, it just remembers what parts of the videos you want to use and then saves that memory in a project file, it does not save the video files. when you render the video it will make a new video file.
If you make any changes to the project files (Pictures and videos) in the project (e.g. name change, location, re-save) the video editing software will no longer be able to link the files back to the project and will then prompt you to re-link the files.
Also the performance of video editing software relies a lot on the data transfer speed. when you are using a USB drive you are cutting the performance down BIG time.
When you are using VideoStudio save all the files you are editing to the hard drive in one folder. when you are done and you want to transfer the project off, select File | Smart Package. What this will do is gather all of the project files and allow you to save to a USB drive and you can transfer the project to any other computer and open the project using VideoStudio without the relinking issue.
