Epson C1100 E511

I know its the photoconductor problem, itook it out cleaned it and had the same problem, i took the photodoctor apart and cleaned it very well ( it was very dirty) i clened with air pistol, also cleaned inside the printer( i think this is were i screwed up ) i put the whole thing back together, and for the 1st time there was no error, when i send a test for printing it blocked again.
Should i remove (or try to) the toners, and do a full cleaning of the inside?
I was warned that the toners are extremely dificult to change.
Anyone know ANYRHING i can try and do?

    Hi there,

    Regarding the Epson Aculaser C1100.......

    If you have cleaned the sensor inside of the machine (left hand side) and the silver square inside the photoconductor with no joy and are still getting error E511 try the following..... (i will recap on finding the silver square on the photoconductor's roller)

    Take out the photoconductor and turn it upside down on a table. Where the blue roller is scroll the sides of it with your thumbs and you will notice that through a square hole bottom right a belt inside will very slowly move. Keep scrolling (sometimes two mins) untill a bright (or dull) silver square comes up. Then.......

    Buy some silver metallic paint and paint either side of the square so it is 3 times the size now. One of those silver metallic pens for writing xmas cards will do also.

    thanks to one guy on here who suggested the belt in side the photoconductor had slipped - that's exactly what has happened here (it's slipped to one side hence the sensor is not snensing the whole surface area. Now it has a much wider band to sense!!!!! What a wonderful site this is! Good luck in mending yours!!!!!

After changing the black cartridge of epson aculaser c1100, a message flashed: Service Req E511

Welcome to FixYa, the world's largest product support community.

The message E 511: Service Required is commonly due to the Photo Conductor Unit's tabs getting stuck. So the first thing we need to do is to remove the PHoto Conductor Unit. Here are the step to remove the Photo Conductor Unit off of your EPSON Aculaser C1100.

1. Turn the printer on, and open cover B.

2. Raise the yellow lever inside cover B.

3. Remove the photoconductor unit.

4. Check the white tabs on the underside of the photoconductor unit. These are spring-loaded plastic tabs that should depress when you press and release it. If the white tabs no longer spring back you need to replace the photoconductor unit.

After removing or ultimately replacing the photoconductor unit, please follow the step by step giude on how to remove the photoconductor unit in reverse order.

Part of the photoconductor unit known as the transfer belt is not being detected when the E511 Service Requested error comes up. Epson in the UK has the troubleshooting outlined here:;jsessionid=035E9EA2127A8A5A478481112D9F98B2.acc2?target=article&extn=.html&articleId=1319

Epson aculaser c1100 indicating E511 service req'd

Hi, at this point I would normally start by checking voltages at the TRO sensor, MCU board, and then swapping out the sensor and the MCU (engine) board, but these options are probably not available to yourself. I would recommend getting proffessional help from a local repair centre, but bear in mind that it may be more economical to simply replace the printer. Sorry cannot be of more help.

Epson Aculaser C1100 Printer suddenly stopped printing

To my knowledge Error Code E511 refers to photoconductor and/or its associated components. It is possible that:
  • the photoconductor requires a bit of cleaning and to be reseated snugly;
  • the black rubber conveyor (transfer) belt inside the photoconductor moved away from its path;
  • the silver square reflector on the transfer belt needs cleaning;
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Epson Aculaser C1100 - E511

The E511 error comes when you power up the printer. The noise of the "warm up" is the black rubber transfer belt on the Photo Conductor Unit spinning through one rev to check for a little silver square on the edge of the belt. You can turn the belt manually to see this square.

If this square is not found, Epson will tell you to throw away an otherwise fine PCU.
a) Remove PCU and check the transfer belt for the square. Clean WITHOUT alcohol.
b) check the sensor that reads this square - a small black oblong "camera" in the heart of the printer on the LHS. Clean.
c) If the square is damaged, replace with a piece of tin foil. Superglue on carefully, making sure all the edges are glued but not your fingers!

You don't need to put the new square in exactly the same place, just above or below on the belt is fine.
