What kind of batteries are you using? It's a well-known fact that for instance normal alkaline batteries run flat in no time in these kinds of cameras. You'd better use powerful NiMH batteries, 2,000 mAh or above and a charger which does the job in let's say 1 hour or so. Also get an extra set of batteries. You'll never regret you bought it!

I have a fuji s7000 i put it away for for a year and now it wont turn on tried new batteries and even the power cord ,does it have a seperate internal battery

Not likely it has a an extra battery, keeping you from starting up.
Just get out the batteries, charge them again (Yes again) and in the mean time, use some cotton swabs, to clean the contacts in the camera. Before you reinsert the batteries also clean the contacts on the batteries. Make sure you only use NiMH rechargeable and don't use NiCD batteries.
To test the camera, you could insert a set of new Alkaline batteries, but you will see they don't lats as long as the NiMH batteries.
Never use zinc carbon batteries in a camera.
Let me know how you go.

My s7000 batterries do not last very long i am wondering if something is draining them down

Release Date: 12 January 2004

Fujifilm today announced that a number of early FinePix S7000 Zoom digital cameras may experience battery power depletion when used with some CompactFlash™ memory cards.

This fault does not occur when the S7000 is used with either an xD-Picture Card™ or a Microdrive™, nor does it occur in any other Fujifilm products that offer a CompactFlash™ storage facility, such as the FinePix S2 Pro, S602, S602 Pro or M603.

Cameras with serial numbers above 34L60001 (inclusive) were produced after 15 December 2003 and therefore will definitely not experience this battery drain problem.

In the short term, the problem can be avoided by unloading then re-loading the batteries just after the camera is switched off. The camera's power supply will then perform normally.

I have a Fuji Finepix S7000 digital camera. I works fine, but, when the batteries get discharged, the camera looses all the "setup" info (date, time, etc...)... Is there an internal battery or something...

There is no internal battery. When the batteries become discharged or removed, the camera retains the date/time settings for about 24 hours. Most people have backup batteries fully charged so when one set is low in the camera, they can make the change quickly.

Quick battery drain with Finepix S7000. Only about 25 shots!

See if there's a firmware download on the support section of the Fuji website.

I think I Had that problem too. mine also quite suddenly started showing low battery even on new ones... it seemed better with non-rechargeable types. Now the reason I'm on this site is as the lens doesn't open.

The batteries were drained in my FinePix S7000 camera whthe camera was not in use.

The CompactFlash card may have caused the batteries to drain. Some solid state CompactFlash cards consume power while inserted in the FinePix S7000 even if the camera is turned OFF. Fujifilm recommends removing the CompactFlash card when the camera is not in use. Microdrives and xD-Picture Cards do not exhibit this problem.
