Hi my laptop is turning on as normal, however, the keypad and the mousepad do not work,
Ctrl Alt Delete. does not even work to turn the unit off.
When i first turn the laptop on, the mouse can be moved slightly, but it shudders about the screen before becoming fully frozen.
I believe it may have something to do with those pop up notifications that come up on the bottom right hand of the screen, as it is when one of those pops up that the computer become unusable.
Is there anything I can do to solve this?
Re: Laptop is turning on-but everything seems frozen
If you have a second set of functions on the buttons that are in blue or another color they may have been turned off. My kids like to play with my notebook and they did that. Just hold the function button (mine is blue and labeled 'Fn') I just hold that and press the button that corresponds with my mouse (a pointing hand in a rectangle).

Shortcut Key To Flip The Screen In the Windows TO 180 Degree.. The shortcut is (or should be, read below**) for normal windows : Ctrl + Alt + <Up arrow> (or shift+alt+<up arrow>) and for 180 deg it is : Ctrl + Alt + <Down arrow> (or shift+alt+<down arrow>) However, you should know that these are default shortcuts for Intel Extreme Graphics Controller, and you can change them. To check / change or disable these keys go to control panel->Intel Extreme Graphics->Hot Keys. **sometimes the shortcuts do not work. This happens when you have not enabled rotation feature in Display Settings under Intel Graphics Media Accelerator media. You need to enable rotation in order to be able to Rotate / Flip your windows screen upside down / 90 / 180 / 270 degrees.
Mouse: with mouse, do you mean a usb mouse or the mousepad? if the mousepad isnt working, check ur "F" keys for an icon that looks like a mousepad icon. Then press the "Fn" key + the corresponding mousepad icon key and see if it works.
Key Pad or Touchpad? Is it that the mouse pointer is frozen and does not work? If so, look at the middle of the touchpad at the top of it and there might be a button there that lets you toggle the touchpad between locked and unlocked.
Sometimes there might be a set of keystrokes you will have to hit to lock or unlock the keypad. Most times you will have to Press and Hold the Alt, FN or Ctrl key then hit the key (most times one of the F1 thru F12 keys) that controls the keypad. The key that controls the keypad will have the icon of a finger inside or pointing at a square that represents the keypad. On one laptop recently that I worked on it was toggled by Pressing and Holding the ALT key then hit the F6 key. F6 had a finger pointing at a square area representing the touchpad.
