Question about Dishwashers
SOURCE: IE error message
Hi, had the same problem on a LG LD 12aw5. (No water entering). Check the inlet solonoid. There should be 220V over the solonoid. I replaced the solonoid, at first, just to have the same problem. The problem was a bit more serious, the Triac driving the solonoid burnt out, and the solder on the mainboard keeping the transformer were shot to. I replaced the Triac, soldered the Transformer - and wolla - working. If water enters - but you sill get the IE error it could be the float(checks the water level). This device tells the machine when there is enough water. If this is stuck, the machine will think no water is entering. firstname.lastname@example.org - replace "_dot_" with "." to email me.

Fill valve replacement should be fairly simple. Most dishwashers are constructed in a similar manner, so although these steps are generic, it should lead you in the right direction: 1. Remove the lower kick panel right below the dishwasher door. The fill valve should be located in the front of the dishwasher on the left hand side. 2. Turn off the water supply line. 3. Turn off the circuit breaker to the dishwasher or unplug the unit as necessary to secure power. 4. Carefully remove the two wire connectors going to the fill valve solenoid. These wires are delicate, so be careful with them. 5. Leave the fill valve attached to the mounting plate in order to loosen the supply line. Once you have the supply line loosened you can remove the valve from the mounting plate by removing either one or two screws. 6. With the supply line disconnected, wires removed and the valve removed from the mounting plate, you can now remove the secondary water line that goes into the wash tub. It is usually behind the valve and easier to access if you can pull the valve out far enough the reach it. 7. Make sure you put teflon on all your threads BEFORE you re-install. 8. Installation is in the reverse of what I just explained to you. You should not have to remove the dishwasher from under the counter, but you can if it makes access easier. It's that easy. Just make sure you check your water lines for leaks BEFORE re-installing the kick plate. And, make sure you reconnect the wires properly. Good luck. I hope this helps you.

Wordhog: Does sound like a siezed wash pump to me. Wash motor needs to run to get the correct level of water.
To drain a Miele dishwasher, start the machine on a cycle. All the Miele range of dishwashers drain before filling. Then hold in the start button until the end/finish light is lit. Keep doing this until all the water has gone. You could just get a jug and bail it out. Once the jug does not do the job anymore, switch to a cup, I use a very large syringe for the remaining half a litre.

Follow-up: I was able to fix the problem on Bosch model # SHU 4002UC. Purchased water inlet valve (part number 425458) from Sears Parts Center. I required the Sears unit number from the original invoice as Sears computer system apparently cannot identify the Bosch model number. The valve is as described by meyerjr above; however it is located at the bottom front of the machine so could be replaced (not so easily) without removing the machine. Cost of part was $30.50 Cdn including tax.

Check the float switch. Sometimes you can jiggle it around to get it working. Also check the leads going to the water inlet to see if you have power unit must be started to check this. If you have power to the valve it has failed if not check that float switch for continuity. One of the leads from the water inlet goes to the float switch.
