Thanks, lights are on but no noise at all. are compressors expensive to have replaced? No visable leaks, from coolant.

Interior lights working?
If not check circuit breaker or fuse for that circuit.

If they are on, are you still hearing any noise from the compressor?
If not, your compressor may have failed or you have lost too much coolant for it to turn on.

If the compressor is running, a circulating fan may have failed and the cooled air is not circulating.

You will never see any coolant leakage; the stuff is extremely volatile and evaporates instantly. If a leak occurs in the right place, there may be some residue from additives.

If you are sure it is the compressor, you are looking at ~ $250-400 US.

It is a fairly involved process requiring the cutting of the copper tubing that inserts the compressor into the loop and resoldering of the new one after the system is charged with coolant again.

An honest tech will check to see if the loss of coolant has just disabled the compressor for its own protection since the coolant also carries lubricant for the compressor.

I have a Maytog Refrigerator; 11 years old; the freezer cools and the frig does not; unplugged it and it worked for 7 seconds and then stopped; any ideas?

My fridge stopped working for good, but I think you need to let it cool down over night if you have a cooler put ice and let it there over night. I think it will work a little longer than 7 seconds.

Why is refrigerator not cooling

May be out of gas, or low on gas. Can you hear the unit running when you power it up?
May want to check on the overload unit to see if it is ok

Samsung RS2630SH Side by Side Refrigerator not cooling down frig or freezer

Is the compressor running? If so, feel the discharge line is the line cold? If not the unit is probably out of Freon, which means it will have a leak somewhere in the system.

Frig stopped cooling, unplugged & replugging worked - now what?

hi try out the following settings....
Check your temperature setting.
- Check if no ice present in the evaporator, try the defrosting
- Check vents if air is present if no then check your blower if running or icing evaporator.
- Check your vents if not obstructed with stocks, or the unit is not overloaded with stocks.
- Check if compressor is running continues, if not then you need a qualified technician.

i think after checking this it will work out for u.!!!

Freezer on bottom cold but frig is warm

Just additional clues..(general). The defrost timers (on non-electronic) usually located at the bottom (underneath), have a tendency to fail. (One of mine is in the center, one was on the left side) There are usually about 5 wires connected to it. If it fails while defrosting.. the fridge will warm quickly and stop cooling, if it fails in cooling mode, you will have the icing up problem. (other) A squealing noise is usually a fan motor. -also- (Freon issues)..as freon is lost from a small leak, first the freezer will actually get colder, but the refrigerator section may be too warm (I know it sound stupid). When enough is lost the compressor will get hot and the fridge will not cool.
