To program your unspecified new remote please check in its user's manual the codes for your unspecified Home Theater System. If your unspecified Home Theater System is not listed in your unspecified new remote, please follow well specifed instructions in user's manual, for this case. If your don't have a manual for your unspecified new remote, you should go back to the shop where you bought it and CLAIM for one. They MUST give you a user's manual. A UNIVERSAL REMOTE WITHOUT USER'S MANUAL IS USELESS!. In any case, should you specify the make and model of your unspecified new remote, maybe we (I or any other FIXYA user) could find it on line (or maybe not, questoin of good luck, not everything is uploaded) Also, you can make a Google search for the manual using terms Make and Model, universal remote and manual So, please be more specific to get help.
Which One For All remote do you have? The manuals and code lists for most are available here: http://www.oneforall.com/support/manual . Use the drop down menus to select Universal Remote Control and then the specific remote model. Then click on the link to the manual.
You may need to program the amplifier and the dvd player separately. The codes below are for the URC-9960. RCA Audio Amplifier codes: 1023, 1254, 0531, 1390, 1609 RCA DVD Player codes: 0522, 0571, 0717, 0822
Please note that universal remote controls only have codes for devices released 6 months or more before the remote was programmed. If your Home Theater System is newer than your One For All remote, you may need a newer remote.
Most manuals are on-line but if not contact the remote manufacturer. If you need codes for specific components in your entertainment system, look in the manuals for those components or contact the manufacturer of the component you are trying to program into the remote.

Are you referring to the remote that came with your TV? If so I do not believe it is possible to program that particular remote to control other devices besides the TV. The first link below is to the manual for your TV. There is nothing in it about controlling other devices. They want you to buy a Universal Remote along with the TV. They are so thoughtful.":)
If you are taking about an RCA universal remote. Since I don't know exactly which RCA remote you are trying to program I'm unable to give you any specifics on programing it. However I can provide you with a link to RCA remotes where you should be able to find your specific model and get a manual to help you out. Once you find your model click the picture and scroll down to the next page that opens at the bottom there will be links to Specifications, Support and Manuals and Accessories. Hope this helps.
Since codes are so model and brand specific, unless you find the user guide on line, your chances are slim.
Study the remote to see if it may have a built-in scan feature that allows you to step through every available code to find one that works.
Several other fixya posts address this same remote. The manual and codes can be found at http://220.127.116.11/rcaaccessories/docs/man/RCR4258_DOC_OM.PDF (found using RCA.COM ) www.rca.com place model number in search box Search: RCR4258 Click picture of your remote. Click support and manuals tab located under description click manual link Open Adobe Acrobat file.
If you have the manual and are sure you have followed the directions, then your tv or other device may not be compatible. If you are looking for the code for a specific device, please provide more information.
Generally, No. You can buy a universal remote and hope it supports the command to unlock the TV; otherwise you need the specific remote for that TV since the child lock function is very specific to each product.
