Here is the information given to me by a Hunter rep when I worked at the big box store.
(901) 248-2259 Technical/ Parts
or parts/ technical service (901) 248-2327
As a side note, most fans use the White and Blue wires to supply power to the light kit.
The blue generally attaches to the Black wire when installing light kits, and the
White to White.
Hope this is useful.

CEILING FAN MODEL AM-1

The red wire is the hot wire for your light so connect it to the black wire on your light. The white neutral wire should connect to your other white wires on fan power wires.

Hunter fan light switch won't turn off light

by looking at the sw. it looks like u can only put it to a low dim and not off and the button at the bottom is all off including the fan if this is correct u should be able to change to a different kind of fan sw. combo or even a remote style that comes with a receiver ,also your fan should have three wires at the box a light wire "blue" a fan wire "black" and a neutral "white" oh and a ground "green" in order to switch these separate u need those 3 wires at the sw. also . but with a remote u only need the hot and neutral it hooks up in the box or canopy of the fan to the receiver all wires are marked for easy installation turn power off to be safe u can install a regular sw. to over ride the remote and turn power off at the fan .......its alot i know but hit me up if u need more help.

Wiring instructions are terrible. Ceiling wires = Red, Black, White, Copper. Fan wires = Black, White, Copper. Remote wires = Neutral in(Black), Live In(Black), Light out(White), Fan out(White),...

That is dificult to follow .. here is the usual wiring plan for ceiling fans .. green to green or bare and mounting bracket ... ceiling black and red are live from the switches, fan and light.with a remote you really only need one of these , so cap off the red and use the black as your input to the remote .. the neutral to the remote should be the white .. there are only 3 wires from the fan so I am assuming that there is no light , or the light will be activated from the remote .. the black for the fan and the black for the lights connect to marked wires on the remote. .. lights out, fan out

or looking at your description .. ((Remote wires = Neutral in(Black) white ceiling wire, Live In(Black) blaxck ceiling wire, Light out(White) blue Fan/Light wire, Fan out(White) black fan/light wire, Common(White) white ceiling and white fan/light wires.

Your best bet with this would be to call and talk to an electrician over the phone, or contact Hampton Bay. We are seriously liable if we tell you one thing and it turns out to be something else.

Bought a hunter remote and can't figure out what wires to connect

The remote red wire should go to the black wire that goes to the light. The remote black wire should go to the black or black with white stripe wire to the fan. The white wire should go to both white wires from the light and fan.

The power in (black and white) should be connected to your power source black and white. Bare copper wire to ground on fixture

Fan light kit will not function

Have you taken a VOM (Volt-Ohm Meter) and checked to see that the "two wires" of which you speak actually have 110-120VAC on them?

I bet they don't and I bet they don't because "up top" (where the connections in from the ceiling box, the BLUE wire (might be brown on some fans) is not hooked up. Unless you have separate switches at the wall, the blue and black wires coming out of the fan must be combined and hooked to the BLACK wire coming out of the ceiling box. White (neutral) goes to white, and green goes to ground.

Good luck, and always OBSERVE practicable safety precautions.
