The element is broken, you can pick up a replacement from any wholesaler of plumbing/electrical/appliance parts. Otherwise, there could also be an in-line fuse. if you look up your appliance on the internet ( a silver sticker on the lip or groove around the perimeter of the door has the serial number and model number) you can search the exact model number and find the manual, and then see if an in-line fuse exists. Otherwise, replace the heating element

Check out this tip to see the things that can fail to cause your electric dryer not to work.
There are 2 possibilities for this problem. 1. The limit switch is out. The limit switch is located on the heating element on the back of the dryer. This is a small button type part. it will have 2 prongs on it for 2 wires that slide on for power. 2. The heating element is out. This will be on the back of the dryer and depending the model it should be a long metal piece that has metal elements inside of it to heat the dryer. or it could be a large round unit. these can be tested with an om meter.
The limit switch will be the cheapest to start with on replacing. If you need further assistance please do not hesitate to ask. I will need the make, model, and the serial number of the unit to help you further. the model and serial number can be found by opening the dryer door and looking by the hings. there should be a sticker with this information on it.
you have a heating element burnt out. You will need to remove the back of the dryer and in the bottom of the dryer casing you will see the element Looks like a toaster element. Take model and serial # to an appliance parts house for replacement. An appliance tech shouldn't charge you that much to repair if you dont want to do it yourself.
Probably a bad heating element. There are a few different styles, you'll just need to lookup your model number on an appliance parts website, find the right part, and then do a quick search on replacement. There are probably ten or fifteen websites that have instructions to replace heating elements.
Here's one where you can buy the part, the element is part number 17.
