I have already checked the manual and I do not think it is a configuration problem.

    Suben,
How do you change the rear lamp bulb. Can I do this myself. What kind of bulb is it?

  • Fox8706 Sep 01, 2008

I have the original strong transmitter and I believe that if I send it to Sirius they are obligated to weaken the transmitter

That's is the effect of some parts loosen, crack or cold solder joints, that can caused can't supply exact voltages, causing the bulb to dim.The solution is to reworks or resolder all the solder joints so it works normally. If you have a knowledge of electronics you can do it to yourself. If not find a repairman or bring it to a shop maybe i cost $50...

Hope this may help;

Call tech support at Sirius.com. Usually when they are broken they will send you a new unit. Either the same model or a new model depending on whats available. They may ask for you old one back as well.

Your better off dealing with Sirius to get it fixed since it is a paid service you are paying for rather than dealing with a third party company to get it fixed and relying on them to get parts for.

I don't about the transmitter getting a weaker signal but another problem with using the FM transmitter is most FM channels are full in bigger markets making it difficult to find an emptly station in the first place.

A direct FM adaptor solves that problem. You will get a better signal for playback on your radio than the transmitter. They sell for about $19.99 on Sirius.com and they are easy to install.

If you take out the original bulb you can find spares at any electronic component shop.

Otherwise call 773 772 4340 and enquiry here to get the replacement:

Sirius Receiver goes silent and displays Acquiring Signal.

I have a 3 year old Sportster 2 replay unit that worked perfect until 1 month ago. I posted my problem on this website a day before you did with this same problem. I googled to no end and even spoke to Sirius who wasn't willing to replace my unit at no charge since it was out of warranty. I found an unusual solution on the internet that worked for me. I place my receiver in the freezer for at least 20 minutes (this was recommended by a guy somewhere on the internet with the same problem). I have actually left it in freezer overnight too. This has solved my problem. It is the craziest thing but I thought I would try it before I resorted to replacing all my accessories and receiver since Sirius was less than cooperative with the issue. Anyway, hope this helps.

Clarion Calypso display dim

I have this exact same problem and I have solved it by the following method. Open the unit (2 screws), remove the silver box (3 screws and gold pin connectors), and remove the circuit board (2 screws). You will see the screen is connected to the circuit board by a ribbon cable and two poles with metal connectors that actually go through the circuit board. One of the poles moved freely in and out of the circuit board on my unit, the other was still fixed in place and could not be removed easily. I found that when this pole was fully connected, the backlight functioned and did not when the connection was broken. I soldered the pole in place which solved the problem (maintained the connection).

Problem with memory

The problem is simple to fix...shut off radio replays. Thought they are supposed to make you aware of low memory..the replays seem to automatically replace "loved" songs.

Sportster randomly turns off.

Remove the batteries from the boombox. If there is no batteries in the boombox, and it still does this, then the boombox itself is no longer any good.

SIRIUS Sportster "Acquiring Signal"

Let me save you $30.00. A new antenna will not help, nor will cleaning the contacts. I just did both of those and it did not help. I have mine in the freezer right now cooling it down. Sirius told me that I should not leave it in the car because it gets to hot. They told me to buy another unit....

Sirius sportster sp-tk1, always displays "acquiring signal"

Sirius does not stand behind their products, There is no out of warranty repair for their radios,  and they do not offer sites for repair. Seems  like this is a definite problem with this model. Their solution is to buy a new radio,(with all the new-docking,boombox etc) accessories. also they charge $75.00 to change to the new radio.I liked my sportster 1 because of the FM modulator. It just had to be centrally located and all the radios in my home picked it up(no docking) the new radios require $50.00 docking stations for each stereo location and radio location, unless you bring a boombox everywhere, and the sound isn't the same.    I feel there should be a class action lawsuit against Sirius for these reasons and I might look into it. What do all you think?

Look at the bottom of your unit, you'll notice the round port next to the slot? It get's jammed up inside the unit if you pressed to hard setting it into the cradle at some point. Not easy to fix, unfortunatley.

Power supply to Sirius Radio

yes, some sirius radios work on 5 volts, and some work on 12 volts. Your sportster replay is a 5 volt unit. If you trace that wire back, you will find a cigarette lighter plug with a transformer built into it, with either wires soldered to the terminals, or a female cig plug wired up behind the dash. Whatever sirius unit you plan on hooking up, I strongly reccommend using the transformer that it came with......however if you're willing to take a chance, it's most likely 5 volts.
