AEG Lavamat 16830

The machine is just over two years old and has developed a fault near the beginning of the wash cycle. The fault is that within a few seconds of the machine starting to wash the door, rinse and spin LEDs come on and the machine will not run. Before the machine runs the door LED is green. No error codes are shown on the LED display whilst in failure mode. Only way to clear fault is to turn selector knob to Off and start the cycle again. This process may need to be carried out several times before the machine will run properly.
Any hints as to the cause would be much appreciated.
