MP470 Pixma All in one printer - Problem with getting the ink cartridges in

I have spent hours trying to get my new ink cartridges in. They are definatley the right ones.
I just can't get them to locate. The instructions on the actual printer inside don't really help. I looked on the manual it came with too.
They don't really slide in or locate/snap in place as the instructions indicate.
I am really desperate to use the printer as I have an assignment due in! PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Thanks for your response and help! This is embarrassing! I went to the PC shop where I bought the printer and the guy showed me. Basically I was trying to put the cartridges into an empty space! I didnt realise that the actually arm bit where you put them in is hidden when the power is off! I dont know if that makes sense! As soon as I put it on and opened it (I was trying it with the power off before) the cartridge bit came out!
Feel like an idiot now!

My printer will not accept a recycled color ink cartridge that I previously used!

It's because there is small chip on each cartridge, and when there is no more ink, printer will write into that chip information about empty cartridge. So, you can't use that cartridge any more. Solution is to change the chip with new one, or to get brand new cartridge.

I replaced my Canon ink cartrige in MP470 after removing the protective tape and making sure it was well seated but I still get the "out of ink and change cartridge" screen. ??????

If the ink error doesn't clear after you close the lid, switch the printer power off for few seconds. If that doesn't work, try removing and fitting the cartridge again.
Are you sure the error is for the colour cartridge - not the black this time??
If you can't get it to reset, don't panic. It will still print as normal. If it stops and asks for a new cartridge, holding the Stop/Reset button for 10 seconds will make it work again.

hope this helps

How do you reset the ink levels after refilling them on a Canon Pixma MP470 ????

Are you using a factory new ink cartridge?
Please consider the following:
If you are using a refilled or third party cartridge that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead.
If you are using factory new cartridges, then please call the manufacturers Technical Support for assistance with the warranty on the cartridges

Refilled ink cartridge wont work. Getting message saying ink is l

Many 'refilled' cartridges aren't refilled. Try a new c artridge and see what happens. If it still doesn't work, you need a new print head.
