You can approach the problem three ways:

1) Install and run a registry cleaner to remove junk files and to keep your registry in shape. Junk files (not vital to the computer's function) can slow down your computer.
2) Use a defragmenter to arrange your files.
3) Uninstall applications that you don't need.

This will definitely speed up your computer. It is recommended that you do this at least once a month to keep your computer in good working condition.

I have a cd I put in, but do not know how to remove it from my computer need help

1. Open the Computer window on your PC: Either double-click the Computer icon on the desktop, or open the Start menu and choose Computer.

2. Click the DVD drive icon: Clicking the icon selects that drive.

3. Right click on it and choose 'Eject' from the drop-down list.

Try the following only if the above steps didn't work or in times of urgency, such as when the computer is locked up (or turned off), you can manually eject a disc/cd by pushing a straightened paper clip into the tiny hole (the "beauty mark") on the front of the DVD drive.

Need to replace the clock batteries in my aspire rc 500 can you tell me what to do

You are talking about the CMOS battery. It takes a CR2032 and it can be found on the motherboard. It's about the size of a quarter. Just carefully remove the old one and replace it.
I'm curious to know why you think the battery needs to be replaced. If you clock keeps the wrong time, the battery could be defective, but more likely is the possibility that you computer just can't keep time correctly.
You could try to install a utility like "Atomic Clock" to keep the system updated.

The problem is that, when I open the (my computer)icon or folder to find the drivers c,e,d or e, I am going to find the search page instade. so I don't know what to do. Thank you

You should tell wich operating system you use next time, however if you use Windows Xp you simply click the Folders button at the search page, and you should have your drives back. If there is no folder button, than try right-clicking the My Computer icon and chose Windows Explorer.

Hope it helped. If not please give more details about your operating system.

The appearance of my icons changed, they now have a small blue square with two right arrow symbyls in the square.

Instructions Things You'll Need:
  • Windows XP
Change Default Icons in Windows XP
  1. Step 1 Start Windows in your normal fashion.
  2. Step 2 Click the Start menu and select the "My Computer" option. Alternately, you can double-click the "My Computer" desktop icon if you've enabled it to appear on the desktop.
  3. Step 3 Double-click on your hard drive to open the directory.
  4. Step 4 Find the program for which you wish to change the associated icon. You'll need to know its location on the hard drive. If you don't know where it is, you can use the Start menu "Search" feature to locate it.
  5. Step 5 Right-click on the file, and click the "Properties" menu option. This will open the Properties menu for the file.
  6. Step 6 Click the "Change Icon" button. If there is no "Change Icon" button, you will need to create a desktop icon instead. To do so, cancel out of the Properties menu and right-click the file again. This time, select "Send to -> Desktop (create shortcut)."
  7. Step 7 Click on one of the icons that appears in the list. If the icon you want isn't on the list, click the "Browse" button to search for more icons.
  8. Step 8 Click "OK" once you've chosen the icon you'd like to use.
  9. Step 9 Click "Apply" to confirm your changes, and then click "OK" to close the window.
  10. Step 10 Wait a moment to see the icon change. There are times, like when a lot of system resources are in use, when icon changes can take a moment to appear.

Starts up but shows no icons only background pic so I can't proceed. If I start up with the other user icon then I can use computer. Did System Restore, did not help.

Well my friend it sounds as though we need a little clean up of your computer. Anything we clean out -you do NOT need. It is in stalled elsewhere. What we will clean out are only duplicates (clutter). If you have never done this it will take some we go...START->PROGRAMS->ACCESSORIES->SYSTEM TOOLS->DISC CLEAN when that box opens up put a check in every box. Then click OK..then a warning comes on and says are you sure...say yes. (it seems to always indicate that you don't need to do it at this it anyway)
Then the machine will do its thing...when that is done follow the same route back to Disc clean up only this time click on Disc Defragmenter and click on the word DEFRAGMENT and sit back and again will take some time pending on when or if ever you did it last. (Run this procedure once a week and it will take 30 seconds to do)
You'll love your machine again...good luck

Click Start, Settings, Control Panel, then double click the "Sounds and Audio Devices" icon. Make sure the Mute box isn't checked and the Volume bar is at least 1/2 way on the Volume tab. Also click the Speaker Volume tab and adjust the sound there as well if needed. You might also want to check the "Place volume icon in the taskbar" icon so you can easily adjust the sound settings next time.

About a week ago i downloaded the newest version of yahoo mail and IM...which i think was yahoo 9.0 It downloaded ok....but then in a few minutes my computer went bad....and i was getting a message that...

Do you have the taskbar going along the bottom of the screen?
If so, do you see the word desktop. close near where the time is?
If so, click on the word desktop. it should open up and show you all your desktop icons.

If not let me know and we will try something else.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

My computer went back to older clock date as 1610

try starting your computer in safe mode and see if you can do anything productive there, like scanning for viruses or spyware. also check if you can do the following:
CTRL+ALT+DEL (open task manager)
goto Start>Run>Regedit (open registry editor)
goto Start>Control Panel>Display>Properties (change display settings)
right click on clock at tray and change the current time to correct settings

if you cannot do any of these activities, then your computer may probably been compromised by a virus or malware.
