Question about Avaya 4610

1 Answer

Unobtainable Disc when dialing a number

We have bought a 4610 IP Phone to try on our phone system however we are struggling to get it setup. Its detected in IP Office Manager and has an ext assigned. We have updated the software on the unit but when we call a number we just get ' Unobtainable Disc'. Also when I dial the IP ext it rings and then goes to the default voicemail message.

Any suggestions anyone?

We have imbedded voicemail. The Callsv address is set as the IPO address (172.16.0.250) and the Fileserv is set as the fileserver address (172.16.0.251) the pc running the Avaya IP Office Manager software and has the update files on.

The phone is on 172.16.0.15 and responds to a ping from my system.

I'm not sure what the Vlan id relates to so this is set to 0 ?

The phone displays the username assigned and the extension number.

We are using Avaya IP Office Manager 6.1 (12). Not sure what SSA is or Call status applications.

When you pick up the phone it displays 'DIAL' on the display. The phone display looks normal and displays other users on the buttons.

In the Phone manager client on my system if the VOIP handset is picked up it displays this and changes the icon to the offhook icon. So I know the system can tell its there and in use?

Here are some other settings I got off the phone:

    Call Server Port : 1719
    802.10 : Auto
    VLAN ID : 0
    PHY2 : Enabled
    IR : disabled
    SSON : 176
    Model : 4610D01A
    PWB Comcode : 001010101
    Application File: A10D01B2_8_3.bin
    Boot File: b10D01B2_8_3.bin

No it does not say that. I just tried dialing an external number and it says 'WAITING-FOR-LINE'.

We have a User setup called 'TestVoip' and the user is set for extension 300 (VOIP phone).

Under Extensions the VOIP phone is displayed at the bottom with a red icon as '8000 300'.

Under the extension the extension id says 8000, base extension 300, device type 4610.

The voip tab has the ip address 172.16.0.15, mac address is greyed out.

    If I dial 300 I get 'UNOBTAINABLE'

This is the first VOIP phone. Am I missing something in the config somewhere? Do you have to enable voip or configure routing?

I have looked on user for outgoing call bars but can not see an option for call bars.

The phone is not registered with the IP Office. Double check the IP settings of the phone. Callsv is the IPO IP address
Fileserv is the fileserver, usually the vmail pro server.

What version of IP Office do you have? Are you using SSA or Call status applications? When you pick up the reciever, does it show the extension going offhook?

DOes the phone display"EXT123 NO USER"? Look in Manager, to see under the "Users" tab that there is a user matching the Ext number. If so, check that there isnt any restrictions for outgoing call Bar. If no user, make a new user for that extension.

Let me know where you get.

Is this the first IP phone on the system? Or are there others?

Do you have a VCM MOdule in your system?

With out that, you will not be able to do any VOIP at all.

You have to be fast. When the phone boots up, it will grab DHCP for 4 seconds. During that time you can press *.

Or, you can wait for teh phone to fully boot up and connect to then system, then do it.

Sort of. You can set the .txtx file for the items that are currently in it. BUT, once the phone gets the file, all you need to do is put the extension number in, thne the personal info is grabbed from the callsrv IP, and the user information is automatically inserted,

Incompatible means that what you dialed is not recognized by the system.

Call barred means your phons is restricted from dialing whatever you are trying to dial (900 numbers etc)

Phone goes straight to answer

Is there a "Do not disturb " button on? Or maybe a "Send All Calls". If there is, you will get a stutter dial tone when you go off hook.

Does this happen for both outgoing calls and incoming calls?
