Hi MerryAnn
To answer this one I'd need a bit more info. What mac are you installing it on? What version are you upgrading from? and how much memory (ram) do you have on board?

I assume you are not doing a 'erase and install' as the mac would not function any more if it got stuck halfway.

If all the other questions are OK with the OS version you are trying to install. Where possible you should do a clean install. Just make sure you back all your data up first.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

This sounds like a possible filesystem corruption, possibly due to a bad update from Apple. What is the error that "Disk Utility Repair" gives you?
You may be able to take it to an Apple store to get your data restored, as they (sometimes) have special tools that scrape the existing data from the filesystem even if the metadata is corrupt.

Imac will not wake from sleep

Though not too common, this does occur every once in a while on many Apple desktops/laptops. Usually an anomaly in the running processes gets stuck and prevents the system from awaking while sleeping.
To kill the processes, press and hold the power button for 7-10 seconds (or until the system powers off). Wait about 10 seconds and then power on the Mac.
I recommend performing a system update after logging onto the Mac and downloading any system & application updates available (and restart, if necessary, to complete).

Mac OS X 4.11 does not see the cd burner. Are there new drivers or a better software to run it? I have toast lite 5.1.3. Any ideas what I can do?

Toast 5 is a bit old now - the current version is 10 and that's been out over a year.
However, I've just looked this drive up on the web and according to Philips, the last driver update for this drive was windows 98 in September 2004.
Best to chuck it away and get a new DVD drive - and then update your OS to 10.5.8

The numeric signature verification failed

I am arrived from Japan by Google Search with the same problem written in English.
And without answer, I am sorry with that.

I use iMac G5 17" with Mac OS 10.5 Japanese edition.
I installed "Virus Barrier X6 BackUp edition(Japanese) sold by act2.com.
This Problem happened in "Net Update" to the version "Net Update" itself Version 10.5.2.
Other Update was in succeed with each one by one check up then update processes.
I had often saw "Net Update" itself problems and it seem to be a relation with Mac OS Version, I think.
I want to hear a expert's opinion about this problem and present the solution as well. Thank you.

Can't install mac osx 10.5.7 combo update on 10.5.2

The 10.5.7 update sometimes does several automatic restarts - depending on the mac and the previously installed OS version.
In my opinion the 10.5.7 update has been the strangest I have done.
Try this.
Hold down the power button for about 10 seconds. The MacBook should now be off - but it may restart automatically while flashing the sleep light at you - and make a long beep noise. Don't worry if that happens just let it do whatever it does. Watch the screen and follow any prompts that come up.
If the MacBook did not turn itself back on, hold the power button down again for about 10 seconds. What happens now?
Don't press any other buttons unless the computer tells you to.
If however, you end up with another 3 hour wait then something is definitely wrong and you need to take it in to a specialist.

Macbook was manually shut down during an update

while starting, hit cmd v. this will put it into verbose mode and show the background processes and where it stops, there will be your problem. Also try inserting an OS disk and hitting c during startup chime and use the disk utility to fix the permissions.
