Have you cleaned the burners? if they are not clogged your regulater is the problem and should be replaced asap. don't use the grill until you have replaced the regulater if that is the problem.

What side of a gas grill gets hottest

The only way to be certain would be to measure the temperature with something like an infra-red thermometer.

The theiretical hottest part would be the part closest to the hottest part of the gas flame.
A gas flame burning correctly has a light blue inner cone, a slightly darker blue outer cone and a tail. The hottest part of the flame is at the tip or just a gnat's thingy away from the outer cone.

Bob, your wife is partially correct. However, both burners should have blue flames with orange tips. Cleaning the burners and the their venturi valves, should solve the problem. When I say cleaning them, I mean removing and cleaning them.

Hope this helped you and Happy Grilling!!

The grill is 6-7 years old.. The flames are orange and leaving sud on the food..

sound like this is insufficient air in the flame...

if you can, lift burners out, spray them with oven cleaner and leave for several minutes, use wire brush and clean them under the water. pat them dry with paper, check if all holes are free of rust, fat and debris, clean as required. this should restore your grill burners to nearly new condition, return airflow back to normal and restore your flame to blue.

wear faceshield/googles to protect your eyes and gloves to protect your hands while you do that! and better you do not wear your sunday best either... oven cleaner is strongly caustic and can burn holes in the fabric and bleach it.

if you find this advice helpful, please do not hesitate to leave comment and give me your vote4, thanx!

What color should the burner flame be

The burner flame should be blue.
If you have the spider air flow open to wide the flames will be yellow.
This means the gas flow has to much oxygen.

Typically the air vent should nearly closed.
You may not be able to remove all the yellow and have a few Yellow tips.
This is ok, just try to adjust were you have the last amount of yellow in the flames.

Good luck!
Hope this helps.

Weak flame on webber q200 grill

Remove connection to tank, reconnect, open valve slowly, when you open valve to fast the tank valve has a shutdown in it, it thinks something is wrong and shuts valve down. Always open tank valve slowly when using.
Also your tank valve could be sticking causing this problem, to fix replace tank.
