GPS on Lowarance LMS-525 DF has stopped aquiring satilites, time has been reset to 1-2000. Is there an internal battery that needs to be replace (unit's 6 years old)? I can't set local time. Depth Sounder still works.

the lcd is going out and will cost more to fix it then the cost of the gps....my advice is to get a new one from bestbuy and get the 4 yr performance service replacement plan so next time you have a problem like this they will replace it for free.

• No it does not. Lawrance often makes either external or internal GPS units. This is an internal antenna unit only model. Hope this helps.

I'd suggest calling Lowrance.. Those guys are very helpful with step by step support... I just purchased a used boat with a 525c df on it and been troubleshooting some problems with it. Central time zone and best to call right when they open or turn on the phones at 8:15.

Hope its not to late, before you replace (buy a new one) call Lowrance. I have a 525 and working through some problems and they advised me that they would replace my unit for $200 no questions asked. To answer your question not 100% positive but I did see a recent question where Lowrance lost his unit and sent him the 525 as a replacement and the connections were different. I believe my 525 has a 5 pin system with one notch. Does yours have a external gps module? The 525 does!

Go into your gps settings in the menu and then select "Initilize GPS". That will basically reset your GPS and it should find your location. It can take up to five minutes so initilize it and crack open a cold one. when you get back your location should be on the screen.

Soft Reset (Does not delete GPSData)
1. Turn unit OFF 2. Press and holdthe PAGES key
3. Press and hold the PWR key
4. Release both buttons when the USA map

Hard Reset (Deletes stored GPS Data
such as Waypoints and trails)
1. Back up any waypoints, routes,and trails that you want to save on a blank MMC card
2. Turn unit OFF
3. Press and hold the ZIN&ZOUTKeys at
the same time
4. Pressand hold the PWR key
5. Release both buttons when the USAmap
appears
