Question about Cyberhome DVR 1600 DVD Recorder
I bought cyber home dvr 1600 last year. It worked just for a week( recorded only two shows from tv) Then suddenly It started refusing disks and stops in the midle of formatting. someone asked me to change the type of blank dvd. I spent a lot of money buying different blank dvd's and throw them in the garbage. I spent more than the unit's price it self. My unit is used just for a week, And is been sitting for a year just to use it as a display clock.
Hi. I have one of these units with the same problem
Mine will play audio CD's OK but DVDs are troublesome. I asked around on various forums and it appears that the DVD laser in the unit has failed or is on it's way out. (There are usually 2 lasers: one for reading normal CD's and one for DVDs).
I have noticed that my unit gets quite hot when in use and has very poor ventilation. Unfortunately any build up of heat can cause the laser diodes to malfunction and eventually fail and I think that's what has happened with mine.
If you still have a guarantee on your unit you could try and get it repaired otherwise it will be an expensive job and it may be cheaper to get a new unit.
Hope this helps
