Hello,

The most likely problem with your dryer is that the motor is defective,if it cools down and starts when cool then shuts off when warm and wont restart yet once again till cool the motor is the trouble. Also you may hear a heavy(ish) humming sound when it starts if motor is bad. Their is the thermal fuse that will make the dryer not start if it's bad its either good or bad and never intermintent like the motor will be.

Good luck
I hope this helps,if it does please give me a 4 thumbs up rating

Gene

I would bet you have a bad sensor. There are a couple of sensors that monitor heat. When it gets too hot they shut it down as a safety precaution. Once it is cool enough it will start up again.

If it happens during the auto-drying cycle, the moisture sensor could be faulty.

If it happens during the timed cycle, the operating thermostat may be faulty. A faulty operating thermostat can fail to turn the heaters off and allow the dryer to get too hot. When this happens, the high limit thermostat will turn off the machine. After it cools down, it will start again.

Dryer only shuts off and restarts during cycle

Get a new timer. It is not that expensive and the wiring is fairly simple.

My LG dryer shuts itself off during the normal cycle and a dotted

OK, here's what it sounds like to me: The line going around the display should only be seen if you selected "Wrinkel Care" function for that cycle (and with the freshen up cycle, I beleive). With that option in use, after the dryer shuts off, if you do not open the door or turn off power to the dryer the dryer will display the moving rectangular segments and every 6 minutes the dryer will turn itself on and tumble for 10 seconds with no heat (to keep clothes fluffed up and prevent wrinkles from setting in) and will continue this cycle for up to three hours. The "Freshen Up" is the steam cycle used to remove wrinkles from 1 to 5 garments, like things that were all wrinkled up in your suitcase. Try drying with a normal or permanent press cycle, or a timed cycle. If you have additional questions or concerns, let me know.

Won't turn off

ck to see if a wrinkle guard button is present or some such control if option is turned on most dryers will come on shut off like that for up to 12 hrs before completely shutting off this helps reduce wrinkles in clothes not removed from dryer when dry cycle completes ..if you can find owners manual consult if for a better explantion

Kenmore Dryer

yes it does sound like the timer itself. sometimes if the timer has a bad contact then the timer will loose power as it goes around. by turning the timer around 1 time it resets the contact and it starts up again.
