I am trying to connect my ps3 to the internet wirelessly but when i enter the wep key and test connection it keeps timing out when trying to get ip address what do i do

Sounds to me that you have the internal firewall enabled in the router and haven't built ports or 'pin holes' to allow your ps3 to access the network through the gateway. If you know how to navigate the router's advanced setup page then the easiest option is to set it from either of the two available options for firewall security to the third option of 'clear sailing' . This is assuming that it's not just the router itself and other devices are able to connect without problem. The Netopia 3347 doesn't allow for NAT changing from type 2 or 3 which, despite what you may read, doesn't hinder gaming or speech, unless you go deep into the provisioning and are using it for vpn or as a bridge. I hope this is understandable and can at least point you in the right direction because this is one of the absolute BEST routers ever 'given away' with ADSL service from BellSouth/AT&T.

Hi, I have a HP Compaq nx6110 with Broadcom wireless adapter, and I have a Wireless problem. I've recently reinstalled my OS, it's a Win XP SP3, and ever since my wireless adapter wont start, it...

  1. Make sure to press the WiFi button on your notebook. You should see a blue light if your WiFi adapter is on.
  2. If that doesn't work, download and install the latest version of the wireless adapter driver.

I have a new computer with Vista OS but it does not see my Netopia Caymen 3341 modem

I would suggest to "download the drivers" but the website of Netopia doesn't mention drivers. And I'm guessing that your driver disk won't have the Vista drivers either.

Can't approach router to change channel/security

go to your network status on your computer and see what your default gateway address is, that should be the address of your router.

My website on my network open the netopia router page

You need to somehow setup the internal DNS to route all requests for the specific domain name, to your internal website.

Or, setup the netopia to allow loopback connections.

If you have a 2003 Server OS, chances are that the server is handling DNS requests, at least internally.

This tutorial has a good example of how to create domains internally:
http://www.simongibson.com/intranet/dns2003/

Just a couple of tidbits when using this approach:
You will essentially be controlling the DNS for the domain internally anyways. Meaning, any subdomains, mail exchangers etc., for the domain will have to be configured as well.

Good Luck.

Netopia Router - No Connection, Clicking

Yes, you need to swap the router out.

This is assuming you dont have the netopia in bridge mode with another device behind it.

Xbox live

Hello!

Yes, the netopia router will work with xbox live. you just have to configure some settings on your router.

To configure your router for Xbox Live try the following steps below:

step 1: Open an Internet Explorer page. in address bar type your router ip address, That should take you to the Netopia's settings page
Step 2: On the menu to left click Firewall, set it to Low and Save Changes
Step 3: On the menu to left click Expert Mode, then Yes, enter Expert Mode
Step 4: On the menu to left click Configure, then Advanced, then NAT
Step 5: Where it says Service Name, scroll the list down to Xbox Live Games, click Enable and then Enable again
Step 6: On the menu to left click Configure, then Connection.
Step 7: In main page scroll down to the UPnP and put a check in the box. then Save

It should then restart the Netopia, and when it comes back on in a few seconds your XBOX LIVE should be good to go. If you are still experiencing problems accessing Xbox Live your Netopia may require a firmware upgrade.

How can i unlock my router?

Firstly... avoid showing your SSID (eircom-123456789) here, as the WEP key can be reverse engineered from the SSID.

To change your SSID, connect your router to your PC with an ethernet cable, go to your web browser (Intenet Explorer, Forefox, etc) and type 192.168.1.254, and press return.

This will open the control panel for the router.
Select 'EXPERT MODE' from the menu on the right, and accept the warning prompt. Then click on 'CONNECTION' and the 'WIRELESS' on the menu on the right.

In the main window you can then change the SSID for your network.

You can also change some of the other options in this window such as enabling closed mode, change security protocol, password, etc.
