Question about Fuji FinePix F420 Digital Camera

2 Answers

Brightness I recieved a fuji finepix f420 digital camera for my birthday last year, and up until now it has worked fantastically, ive got some great pictures at football matches and concerts etc. However, recently, i have started using the camera outdoors, and have been having problems with very bright pictures. I was recently climbing snowdon, and wanted to take some shots. It was a sunny day, with no clouds. However, the sun was directly behind me, where i believe it should be. After taking the photo, i realised that the photo on the screen was almost completely white, with only vague outlines of the people in the photo. The surfaces around me were not reflective at all, they were mainly dark rocks, and so this couldn't be the problem. Also, i tried changing the exposure variance settings, which had little effect, and the white balance settings, which i set to the sunlight default, which had no effect. i am a little stuck to say the least. Please can anyone help, or give any tips such as how to reduce the shutter exposure time, to eliminate this problem, as i would like to use my camera on holiday in very sunny conditions and am worried i won't get any pictures. Many thanks for your time.

When I take a picture with my FinePix F31fd every photo produced is too bright and unusable. It is almost as if light is getting into the camera. I have checked flash, which is OK.

I would very much appreciate some advice, as up until this fault the camera has been fantastic.

It's possible your camera's iris was stuck open. I imagine you had the camera in a pocket or other warm place and you've decided to take some shots. Perhaps the simple matter of pulling it out of a warm place into a chilly and damp atmostphere has caused a little condensation to form on the iris and made it stick. The same can happen if you carry the camera in a trouser pocket. The mere fact that you are climbing can cause you to sweat and again caused moisture to form. Also taking your camera from inside a nice warm house into to wet outdoors will cause the same problem and sometimes even fog up the interior of a viewfinder or lens. Did your camera come good again later? BMW

Hello Jrmb,
I would like to know what mode are you clicking these photos in.. because overexposure is due to either slow shutter speeds or large aperture. Try setting the camre mode according to the surrounding light conditions.. for example, no need of flash when you are clicking pictures in broad day light, instead of setting the camera on Auto mode, try using Portrait mode for short distance (5 to 6 meters away) objects etc..
Let me know if that fixes the issue.

And important .. Do not forget to rate the solution :)

Thanks and Regards,

FinePix F420 stopped

i have the same problem. no fall or accident but problem is same. i think it is common problem on finepix f420 and fuji has to find a solution for it. the guarantie of the camera expired and after that the problem happened. fuji has to repair them for free because the source of the problem is the machine. so it is fuji. not us !!!
