Question about Buffalo Technology 250GB MINISTATION TURBO USB 2.0 5400 RPM PORTABLE HDD 250 GB Hard Drive

1 Answer

Setup Process Just brought a new hard-drive a Buffalo HD250US-BK. I brought the HD in Japan where i am currently but cannot read the manual. So was wondering if you would know of a manual available in English. My main problem is that, this is my first time to purchase a HD so i would like to know the main startup process i should be doing in order to use the HD sufficiently.

No need for installation whatsoever for this kind of drive. just plug it in, and its ready for use... but i suggest not to move or even touch the standard folders inside it. rather, make a separate location for the files you are going to save in it. i hope it helps..

My buffola hard drive is being recognized as Buffalo Virtual Cdrom USB device I have changed cable also went to another computer still seeing it as CDrom

Virtual Cdroms are used to provide the computer with drivers. As soon as the driver is installed, the Cdrom should disappear and the harddrive should be revealed. Windows used to autostart the Setup utility, but since this is a security risk, this was disabled.

You should try to manually run the setup or switch to a drive that is supported out-of-the-box.

My buffalo external hard disk can not read since yesterday, I/O device error. previoous was working fine. Do not know why? my Buffalo external hard disk model :HD-PX320U2

it is a PNP (PlugNplay) device. Try using a different cable to connect to your pc. Should the problem remain, hook it up to a different computer and if it doesn't see the drive, it will be an electronic circuit failure inside the box. The data is still on the hhd but you will have to obtain a new circuit to bring the hhd back online for use.

There is nothing you can do: that little fall has destroyed the hard disk's reading heads. This unit is dead, time for a new one.

Check the usb port function in the computer bios settings and be sure that it is set to yes. Connect properly your external drive. If it has two wire usb connections, use both to obtain the maximum power that will be need by your drive.
