I have either dropped the camera or it has been bumped, but my lense wont retract, and 'Lens error' appears on my screen. It is leaning to the left. I have gently tried to push it back, but wont budge. Is it worth taking to a camera store to get fixed? Thanks so much....

usually caused by particles in the lens advance and retraction mechanism.may need cleaning by expert.but first try to GENTLY pull the advanced lense out up to fully out position.note the word GENTLY,otherwise the camera will be ruined.
please i need help! im only 12 years old and me and my friend were going to put a video on youtube of us singing and then i accidently dropped my nikon coolpix touch s230 on the floor and it wont let me take any photos or vids and is saying "lens error!" i pushed the lens in like a dummy and is really broken. how much money will it cost to get my lense fixed!
The Camera displays lens error only when it's unable to retract or expand. This usually happens when the internal Hardware that controls the lens fails or any dust particle settles around the lens. In this case, just give slight bumps to the Camera against your palm. If the issue persists then service will be required.
This is probably THE most common failure among digital cameras. There's a halfway chance of fixing it yourself, described here: http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html
With the power off, hold the camera in your palm and smack the front of the camera on your leg or arm. You might have to smack it a few time to get it to work. It has to do with the camera CDD lense (shuttle) being stuck. By smacking it around, it will free up the lense. Being extra gentle with it though. It worked for me. Hope this help.
