Question about Optoma H30 Multimedia Projector

1 Answer

NO Light I have a h30, there is no light coming on the unit and the lamp trouble light is lit up. I replaced it with a bulb I had used before which I knew was good, and the same thing happen, is it possible that the bulb went bad sitting in storage of is there something else wrong with the unit? I don't want to spend $350 on a another bulb if my unit is porked. Is there any way to check the bulb or is it something else with the unit. Thanks

This is a tough one because the bulbs are so expensive.

Take your pick, bulb, main board or ballast board. Those are the three most probable culprits. I'm afraid you may have to send it for service (or at least an estimate).

FYI, did you know that projector bulbs are cheep, but point of sales mark them up by at least 300%?

Our shop gets them for about $80.

If the lamp light is orange then the lamp ballast circuit or power to it is no good.

I presume the lamp is not on at all, and it's not the hide function that is stopping the light coming out.

The bulb is not bad, the bulb replacement light is not lit and the bulb appears fine- the green light goes on then off right after you start the projector ---no heat off the back of the unit when starting...

If you have the replaced lamp with you it will be good to place it back again to see the indication to change off.
If so then the bulb must be good but if the same situation comes on then it might be the lamp.
please cross check the power supply for any errors to switch on or low power to the lamp

I have green light so I know the bulbe is good,

just because the green light is on doesn't mean the bulb is lit. look into the lens from the side--not directly into it to see if it is in fact lit. if it is lit but you have no display, the main board is likely bad, but you can try resetting the lamp hours and reflashing the unit with the most current firmware.

I have an optima EP 739 projector and I just replaced a bulb in it but it does not come on just green light whats up Any input would be appreciated

if the fans come on and the lamp doesn't, it's the ballast or the colorwheel. if no fans either, it's the power supply. also, did you reset the lamp timer?

I turn tv on...green light comes on but i get no picture or audio....then light indicator blinks red

Hello!
Lamp or ballast(if lamp has been replaced) is bad.
Explanation: green comes on: system works, waiting for light to shine into light engine: no light is coming out of lamp, system shuts down, then you see red! how to determine: pull the lamp out of the unit's compartment. Inspect lamp: bloated stem? shuttered? reflector is not shiny? Chuck it!
Lamp looks good or just been replaced: try ballast. Close lamp compartment without lamp itself. Make sure, door is shut, as well. Turn unit on and listen close to lamp compartment: good ballast will make a buzzing noise, then stop. You've got "red'! No buzzing: ballast quit. Needs major repair! Lamp must be good, for sure, to get to the last part of diagnostics. Conclusion: more, than 2000 hours of usage: replace lamp first!
Good luck,
Alex.

Lamp light blinks

The blinking lamp light indicates that there is a problem with the bulb. Mine did this when I had used the bulb past it's life and the bulb was burned out. Use the owner's manual instructions to remove the bulb and visually inspect it. Mine looked burned out - it was black with clouds on the glass. If this is the case with yours, replace the bulb, or replace the whole unit. (Bulbs can be costly.)

OK, found the solution on the net, you have to use the buttons on the projector instead of the remote to access the menu item.

OPTOMA MODEL RD50AUXA HDTV

Hi there

You can download the user manual from www.projectorcentral.com

I doubt that your lamp is the cause of this problem , sounds more like a faulty Mainboard to me.

If the unit is still under warranty - it should cover a new board.

If not - brace yourself for a expensive exercise

No lit / projected image even with a new bulb!

Let me add...

I had one 3300MP and removed/replaced the bulb to dust off as it was overheating. There is a small metal like switch that resets the bulb replacement (physical switch - take a good look) -- This helped to reset the first time I did this, but doesn't reset the hours on the chip.

However, since this bulb was problematic for me, I have done this a couple of times and since has stopped powering the bulb now. So, thinking it was the bulb, I replaced the bulb, -- No good... So, thinking it was the projector, I bought a new/refurbished one on ebay -- tested the NEW bulb - NO GOOD. now I have TWO PROJECTORS, THREE BULBS and NOTHING THAT WORKS...

WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?
