Question about Whirlpool 25.6 cu. ft. Side-by-Side Refrigerator with In-Door-Ice Dispensing System

Open Question

Motor noise excessive, model etowsrxmq03

The motor makes a loud, ragged hum the whole time is is on--which is an awful not of the time. Anyone trying to hold a conversation in the kitchen in the kitchen would have to raise their voice. Must close the door to my adjoining bedroom-study to sleep, rest, think, study--you name it. I'm renting here and this fridge is making me wish I'd never signed the lease. If anything can be done, please let me know. By the way, I see that this model is a "type 3" and uses more energy (386 kwh) than other models. Is this correct?

Many thanks.

Same fridge, same noise. Very, very loud.

I was able to reduce the noise to about half by removing the 2 1/4" screws in the freezer comparment, removing the panel they hold against the back wall. Reinstalled it with 1/8" foam around all sides.

    So now THAT doesn't rattle.

I suspect the real problem is that the blower fan is out-of-balance. I'm going to try removing that next to try to find out how badly out of balance the blades are. Plan to remove material from the "heavy" blades until I get it balanced. Will report back.

SOURCE: Our refigerator is not cooling .

Hello Laura,
If you look at the rear wall inside the freezer compartment down low and find a bunch of frost on that wall, you have an automatic defrost system failure. The most likely part that has failed is the defrost thermostat. It is located on the top of the freezer coil, clipped onto a piece of tubing. It will have 2 wires coming out of it and it is about the diameter of a quarter and about 3/4" tall. To test this part you would need a test meter and enough skill to check if the contacts are closed when the thermostat is frozen withing the specifications stated on the thermostat. I believe yours would close at 25 degrees F and opens at 47 degrees F. Part # 5303918214
I hope this helps you. supertechks

SOURCE: What is the energy consumption in KwH per year is

A figure of 385 Kw/h per year is listed. This is a very inexact figure and depends on many variables such your climate, position of the unit and the frequency with which it is opened. I would take it that the figure stated would be an average consumption and only useful as a guideline.

Whirlpool Side by Side. Husband replaced fan motor inside freezer. Ever since it's been replaced, it runs frequently and hums loudly. Any suggestions. He took the interior back out and it doesn't hum.

The fan blade touching the interior back cover????

May be the fan motor shaft is too long or may be he did not push the fan blade well inside into shaft so it is to much out. Thus touching the wall cover plate..????

Sorry to barge in... I have a GE SxS refrigerator, model TFX 22Z RXA . The condenser makes a VERY hard/loud rattle 75% of the time it shuts off. The whole refrigerator/freezer is still working...

One of the compressor springs inside is weak and allows the motor to move sideways and hit the shell that covers it. This condition can be annoying but will not affect the longevity of motor. If you place a shim under the motor opposite the bad spring you may minimize the noise

My model # is LEA 10 AW...Anyone know of this one?? It will not spin on its own.. When you try and turn it on it makes a humming noise, but wont spin...

One of two things its humming because the motor is running and the belt is off/broken in which case you should still feel air coming out the exhaust vent. Or the motor start windings are bad in which case you will need a new motor.. If you have a helper try this open the door have someone hold in one the door switch then have them try to start the unit while you are spinning the drum clockwise, if it then runs the motor is bad

Motor making loud humming noises and kicks out. Could this be a capacitor on the motor going bad ? This doesn"t happen all the time, but frequency is increasing.

this is the motor overheating and, the overload shutting down the motor: check to see if the motor belt is binding

Frigidaire dishwasher model GLD2445RFCO is making noise

I have the same problem with my dishwasher. If you remove the kick plate while it is running, There is an electric motor underneath. If you push up and pull forward on the electric motor, the noise will stop. I used a block to prop it up and the noise stopped. You may want to try it.

Cooling fan motor is making loud humming noise

You will have to pull out the light engine. That will consist of 4 or more screws and disconnecting some plugs. The the whole unit slides out where you can get to the fan housing.

Unless you're mechanically inclined, you should not try it as you could damage the assembly.

I don't know the part number off hand and some of those have newer part numbers as replacement for the original. Just do a google search to come up with a part number.

Whirlpool Dishwasher Model: GU2500XTPQ3 making loud whining noise

It's most likely coming from the wash motor bearings. Based upon the age of the dishwasher it might be time for a new one. Although it can be fixed by replacing the motor. It's usually easiest to change the entire sump assembly with the motor. You will have a new wash system. Part number W10782773 Dishwasher Pump Motor Part Number 8535150 Sears PartsDirect

Loud grinding motor protesting humming w/no spinning or agitating

The drum/agitator bearings are bad I believe, or the gearbox has been damaged. This is an expensive repair. I would strongly consider buying a new washer. This is a great time to buy appliances since the stores are really competing, and the prices are at their lowest.

Gas dryer makes loud hum

Sounds like you may have a motor issue, they can get lint trapped inside, and it causes the motor to overheat, and eventually go out. You can remove the top, then the front, and see if thats the problem. Usually, once the motor starts making noise, its time to replace. Right now, the packings in the motor are cold, and once they heat up, they stop making noise, so it could last quite a while.
