Everytime LifeCam is plugged into USB port computer freezes

Every single time I plug my LifeCam into my computer, the entire computer freezes, and I can't move the mouse or anything. The software is working and everything was fine in the installation, but I can't use the camera because I can't even plug it in!

Normal 0 How much memory do you have installed in your computer? It may need to be increased as this is likely to be the cause of your computer freezing.
Hope this is of some help. Bud

My microsoft lifecam vx-3000 is connected to the computer and I have changed usb ports several times, but it almost always says "There is no camera connected to this computer" when I start the program. ...

Remove the entire USB layer from Device Manager... Right Click on the USB, & Uninstall all delete all drivers from here, then when you are done, Reboot. At startup next time it will NOW self-install the USB, layer again. But before you plug it in. Install the drivers and any software from the disc that came with the camera, FIRST. now Reboot. At next start up when at desktop, NOW plug in your device, to the USB port, and it should be detected, and it will install any drivers it needs, it should now "show up" in device manager. If not, chances are it is faulty.Get a program Amcap2 this is a great program to test with.

Does it freeze once you start to use the burning software or just when the hardware is plugged in.

If its when you use the software, try reinstalling the software.

Otherwise, try reinstalling the DVD burner driver.

No long connecting?

maybe..look in the end of the cam usb connector, and see if there's any junk or crud in there. use a toothpick(no ear swabs, please) and using a pencil flashlight, peer into the crevice, looking for any obstructions. you could even blow it out with compressed air. I'm assuming that you've had it connected all along, right?

changing those USB connectors is quite tiring, and requires special tools, and loads of patience.

webcams are relatively inexpensive, as you know.

got a backup for your computer?
