JVC AV-56WP30 56 Convergence Problem

I changed both Convergence IC's, plus a resistor that was burnt. But now when I try to go into menu to adjust convergence. I just get a black screen. I was reading about how I have to save my setting to memory, but I dont't know how.
I start by pressing the service sw (s801) button on the convergence board and I get the screen for convergence adjustment, but don't know how to adjust it.

Ok, when you say not fitted properly, does that mean not solder properly?, or just switch the places of the IC's? I had STK 110's before and changed them for 150's.

Alright, do I follow the manual for convergence adjustment, or do I switch the IC"s vice versa, or both?

  • blackrob24 Sep 01, 2008

I changed both chips.. Still have the problem. Before, I was able to access the convergence screen, you know the screen with all the + signs? Now I can't. I select convergence from the menu, and I get a black screen. Do I need to save something to get my convergence screen back, or did something go wrong with the repair?

Replaced IC chips, but can't fine-tune convergence.

U know how to use a multimeter right?Check and replaced all the resistors near the 2 convergence ICS.Most resistors are big and blue core in colors.

JVC AV56wp74 convergence. Resistor before ICs?

It's recommended to replace all the defective parts first because if you only replace the defective resistor, it might burnt again if the convergence IC is shorted internally. I would also suggest to measure the other low value resistors with multimeter.

Convergence is off on jvc av-56wp30

You will need to install a convergence repair kit which contains two Convergence ICs STK392-110 and then the associated resistors as usually a JVC will Need at least 1 or 2 of the resistors when the ICs fail. You can get the kit for your model at the following link which has the IC and all the resistors plus step by step detailed instructions on how to do the repair. This kit fits your model JVC

I have a jvc av48wp30 tv and need a wire diagram

Looking the convergence board from the side of the resistors (The chips will be behind the resistors), you have from de left to right:

1.5 ohms, 150ohms, 220ohms, 2.2ohms, 3.3 ohms, 220ohms, 1.8ohms, 220ohms, 150ohms, 150ohms, 1.5ohms, and dispose horizontal in relation of the other resistors (the one near to the Ic is 2.2ohms and the other is 220ohms).

Hope this helps...

Green bent line on 48 inch jvc

Check for a burnt resistor on the convergence circuit board. This is usually what happens when the green gets distorted as the green is not adjustable only through the service menu so its either a burnt resistor or a leaky capacitor. Resistor is far more likely. Let me know if you need any further information.

Is this a convergence problem?

This sounds like not only convergence but also bad resistors on the convergence board. There are several resistors in the convergence area, I would change the convergence amps and have the resistors replaced. Look for burnt resistor or just colored differently than the others. check also for loose connections. you can tap on safely converg. board and see if problem changes.

Tv screen waves and is double

No. You have bad convergence output ic;s and probably at least 1 burnt resistor. This liely will have to be reconvergec in the servcie menu after the aprts are changed.
