Problem with Dell Inspiron XPS M140 PC Notebook

Hi, I just received a Dell Vostro laptop and when I am typing the cursor jumps to a different location. HELP, it is very frustrating.

Thank You,
Janet

Most likely, you're hitting the touchpad with the heel of your hand while you're typing. This makes the cursor move to where the laptop thinks you're telling it to go. Just try to keep your wrists up a bit. You can also turn off the touchpad, either with a switch (if your model has one) or through the control panel settings. If you are doing a lot of typing, you might want to connect a USB desktop-style keyboard. Many people find these much easier to type on, and it will keep your hands away from the touchpad.
