Cops is correct if you lift up ANY all in one machines, you will notice that there is a 1inch glass and then there is the main glass. When printing, scanning or faxing from the FEEDER it makes the copies from that 1inch glass, if there is a DOT on that part of the glass it comes out as a line. Why? because the paper is moving that dot then becomes a streak on the paper. To test if it is a dot try doing it from the main glass, there should be no lines ( the paper is not moving!!!!).
sometimes it is very hard to see anything on the 1inch glass, but it's there, the background is black and it may be a black ink or pencil dot. To try and localize it, take the copy with the line and align it with the 1inch glass, look carefully and clean with alcool.
